There's a music forum up in this shithole. Too bad you didn't post this thread there because I would have TROTSed it so fast your head would spin.
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds? What are you, a 20 year old girl?

You have your demographics confused, Screwball. Middle-aged suburban white males wearing Dockers, golf shirts and Oakley sunglasses perched atop their heads are the core audience for Dave Matthews. SixteenTwenty-year-old girls? That'd be your hipster indie music with the keening skinny jeans vocals.

Oh, please, Dins, enlighten me as to the error in my ways regarding the Dave freaking Matthews Band and their core audience of KC Scotts. I'm dying to hear your observations concerning all the middle-aged men who make up the numbers at a typical Air France show.
Go.

If you think you've spent more time in the last 10 years creeping all over college chicks than me, you're quite delusional and you should seek help.
While in his day, Dave Matthews certainly snagged his share of middle aged wannabes, if you think his core was anything other than college-aged marginal hotties, you'd be sorely mistaken to degrees beyond nth.

In his day? I'm talking now. In 2012 his core audience is middle-aged white dudes who think themselves hip because they like a band with a black fiddle player.
Meanwhile...Air France? Good luck finding any middle-aged white males there who aren't merely escorting their daughters to the latest heroic chic-fest.

You DO realize, Dins, that you're engaging an effete, self-righteous music sycophant that disdains every band that ever sold over a 100 records that isn't named Stevie Ray Vaughn, correct?

Stevie Ray Vaughan. With an 'a.' Show some respect, asswipe.
Oh, and that little quartet out of England, the one named after the heavy dirigible, I think they sold a few more than a hundred records in their day.
I kinda liked them too.

Conspicuous by its absence is a rebuttal to the charge of being effete. Is that a concession?

If this was the mid 90s, Dins would be right.
It ain't.
DMB demographic may have been as you described awhile back, but, time waits for no man......or marginally hot co-ed.

So Dinsdale hasn't been right for something like 15 years? That explains a lot.

Nope, it's not, but I chose to address my outrage selectively. Better that he insults me than SRV, you know?
Besides, I couldn't stop scratching my head at his botched use of 'sycophant' there. How can one be a sycophant to music?

It's a synonym for "snob," O Erudite One. Relevant, because nobody on this board sucks the cack of obscure and arcane guitarists harder. Sorry you had to find out this way.

don't have to be a snob to think DMB sucks balls. its like every concert they pull up the van and dump all the contents of the shitter on the audience.

No, it most certainly is not. 'Snob' does not appear as a synonym or alternate meaning for 'sycophant' in any dictionary you care to name...
In fact, 'snob' nearly means the opposite of 'sycophant.'

So words you "sized" defeat your cognitive ability to associate them with the word "sycophant?" And somebody actually pays you to write? Ponderous.

Mokay, Bace.
Snob just seemed too pedestrian. But Van's still a sycophant.

maybe if he was sitting on stevie ray vaughan's lap and snuggling into his flavor saver and telling him "that guitar solo that lasted 15 minutes was just the right move, stevie wevie"

Yeah...no. 'Snob' is the word he was shooting for, and, deciding that he wanted to go the more flowery route, he unintentionally pulled a Wags. Under no circumstance would anyone ever correctly substitute 'sycophant' for 'snob.'
Ain't happening.

DING DING DING! We have a winner.
It always blew my mind how DMB shows developed such a reputation for being absolute drug fiestas because the biggest Dave fans I knew from college were the biggest fucking squares you ever met.
The chicks who would date multiple guys at once but wouldn't fuck any of them.
The guys who would spend hours upon hours talking to their women on the phone, performing phone maintenance, while all their friends were in the living room having a good time.
The guys who drove home 2.5 hours away every weekend to hang with their hometown girlfriends.
The most religious chicks, yeah, they were the HUGE Dave fans because Dave was edgy and cool enough to be mainstream but inoffensive enough to appeal to those who were scared of unholy rock and roll.
Dins is right...as usual.

Horseshit. My usage of the word - in context and given your biases - was correct. Go make fun of folks who struggle with English.
*Edit: And rack Screwey. Wasted three years of my life dating a chick just like that for three months. She wanted to have Dave's baby...

No one's arguing about the core audience for the DMB "in his day." The point was that now he mainly appeals to older suburban white guys. College coeds are certainly no longer his main demographic.

Not this one, maybe I'm missing something.
Sure, I've heard of Dave Matthews but I couldn't name you one of his songs because whenever that shit comes on the radio, I immediately change the channel.
However, this guy appeals to me, I mentioned him in chat the other night to a resounding chorus of crickets.
Oh well... he's probably gay.

I don't get Ambien. They gave it to me post-chemo so I could sleep instead of staying up all fucking night every night. I took the Ambien as prescribed. Sometimes I broke down and took a bit more than was prescribed.
I still found myself sitting here arguing with poptart at 3:00 a.m.
Fuck Ambien.

Maybe you should create a DMB/Jack Johnson playlist and call it Ambien.

50 mg's Diphenhydramine HCl (Benadryl), a whole lot of food coloring, other useless junk thrown in, probably tastes like pesticide.
pretty sure that a little cheech would be a better/more effective choice.
or ps: you could curl up with a laptop, tablet, whatever - read every thread here... every forum and surely you'll sleep.
you may have nightmares, but you'll sleep.
