Those sanctions are only two years short on the bowl ban from matching Penn St's butt whuppin'. I guess the NCAA knows better than to bother hitting Nike U with any sort of monetary penalties.

Except paying the street agents (LSU paid the same guy, too), and getting caught.
But for clarification -- they got busted for about 3 years' worth, but the NCAA rules were hazy, and they were only really in violation for one of them. The NCAA is pissed that Oregon had one too many coaches recruiting one weekend, which the school blames on a HR error over a cancelled vacation, which is plausable.
There's no question we'll get docked recruiting trips. A bowl ban seems unlikely and harsh, considering the minor nature of the violations (but there is still a "pay-for-play" element involved, so we'll see).
If Oregon gets hammered for paying Lyles, UCLA and LSU should get it, too.

More like the last 15.
Which top-level program isn't fishy these days? There's two catagories -- those that have been caught, and those that are going to get caught. That's the reality.

Well, in all honesty... Cal State Eugene has been on probation every decade for the last 4 decades.
So you have that.

Yeah, that last decade where there were no schollie deductions, no TV bans, and no bowl bans was pretty harsh.
Although I miss Myles Brand being in charge -- as I'm sure the Hoosiers do, as well. Oregon and Indiana could do no wrong in the NCAA's eyes when he was around.

We already self administered our punishment -

The Seer, if you had to pick between those two, which one would you choose? And no, an insult-laden form of "neither" is not an option.

Oh, and 2oodles, enjoy that pic of the Rose Bowl. Short of your school's bi-annual road game against Big Brother, that's as close to the Rose Bowl as you'll ever get.
