I'm still pissed the Lions drafted Jahvid Best. I knew that fucker was going to spend more time in the trainer's room than on the football field.

Well of course he would. The trainer's room is where he's far more likely to see naked men.

Well, Cal had their first practice in the newly renovated stadium yesterday... albeit, in helmets and shorts.

They'll be able to practice full-time on the 24th of August, when everything gets finished up/game ready.

It should be complete by the end of the year.

I must say, the "Mothership" is looking mighty nice just two weeks out.

Pugsley,

I know you SEC folks ain't too bright and you don't get many channels on the UHF antenna down in the sticks so watching other conferences is outta the question.... but Cal is one of the best teams in College Football when they play at home.

They would basically OWN the SEC if they somehow got stuck in that boring ass shit hole of a conference... being that they could play four 'high schools' every year for OOC games and play eight games at HOME.

You need a larger antenna.

Yeah, M2 seems to overlook the fact that nearly every halfway decent team in college football plays really well at home.

By "one of the best" I think he meant "one of the forty-seven best."

Cal plays 7 home games and one is against a FCS school. The schedule is so weak they are playing a Friday non holiday home game to drum up intrest for the Washington tilt.

All but certain loss to Oregon plus another loss somewhere in there to finish 5-2 at home = one of the best teams at home.

That's still 1 less home game and 3 less 'high school' games then the SEC plays every year.

But who's counting.

You are aware of that little thing Cal has had going for the last two years, right ? You know, renovating the most beautiful, historic stadium in College Football and how they had to reschedule their games due to not knowing what stadium/s they might be playing in. Otherwise, Cal doesn't play high schools OOC. They actually leave the state and play the "Big Boys" of College Football... unlike the SEC.

Left Seater wrote:The schedule is so weak they are playing a Friday non holiday home game to drum up intrest for the Washington tilt.

Seriously, can we go a month in here without me making you look like a fool ?

Just about every team in the PAC 12 plays either a Thurs. or Fri. game this year due to scheduling.

Cal has a weak schedule ??? Too funny.

Cal has quite possibly the toughest back to back games in the country this year...

1. Traveling EAST(most people that travel know it's harder going to the east than flying to the west coast) 3,000 miles they play Ohio State in "The Shoe".

2. Then they travel back to the 'West Coast' and have another ROAD game in less than a week against the #1 College Football team in the country (U$C).

You won't find another team in the country with back to back games as tough as that, period.

Oh yeah, Cal is one of the only teams in the PAC 12, and maybe the country that doesn't have a BYE week this year.

I'll get to the # 5 team in the country (Oregon) that Cal also plays in a second...

but Cal has an easy schedule ??? Too funny.

Left Seater wrote:All but certain loss to Oregon plus another loss somewhere in there to finish 5-2 at home = one of the best teams at home.

You just aren't very bright...

Cal's last 6 games against Oregon... Cal is 3-3.

Cal's last 4 home games against Oregon look like this...

1. L 15-13

2. W 26-16

3. W 45-24

4. W 28-27

But who's counting.

Well, if you had these nightmare's at QB the last few seasons... Image and Image any team in the country would lose sleep.

Just one more year... then A-Rod part 2... will be in the house along with the best defense in the PAC 12.

And, just like with the original A-Rod at Cal, the result will again be another few seasons of desultory finishes including no appearances in the Rose Bowl.

So?

Well, Kline will have better WR's (top WR recruiting class in the country last year) so good, 1 will start this year and 2 or 3 others will see significant time this year along side the best WR in the country... and the best defense in the PAC 12.

A-Rod... didn't have that.

Kline at this point is by far the best QB on the Cal football team as a true freshman.

I just wish Tedfraud would pull a "Cheaty Petey" and start him this year as a true freshman, but Tedfraud can't get out of his own way to save his life.

A-Rod never had the best WR's or the best defense behind him... and he beat U$C once and should have beat him twice.

No, it wasn't. Not even close.
so good, 1 will start this year and 2 or 3 others will see significant time this year along side the best WR in the country...
When did Marqise Lee transfer to Cal? Or did Robert Woods?
and the best defense in the PAC 12.
If you seriously think USC's defense with all that young, experienced talent won't blow right by Cal's, you simply haven't been paying attention.
A-Rod... didn't have that.
Neither will Klein, so there you go.
Kline at this point is by far the best QB on the Cal football team as a true freshman.
Which speaks to Cal's overall level of talent rather than necessarily anything particularly amazing about Klein.
I just wish Tedfraud would pull a "Cheaty Petey" and start him this year as a true freshman, but Tedfraud can't get out of his own way to save his life.
We'll see whether Klein wins a Heisman on his way to becoming the #1 pick in the draft, as may well be the case with USC's lone QB ever to start as a true freshman.
A-Rod never had the best WR's or the best defense behind him... and he beat U$C once and should have beat him twice.
He still never won shit, including a decent bowl game. Klein won't either, not unless he transfers.

Aaron Rodgers is not "A-Rod", just like LaDanian Tomlinson is not "LT". He's a good quarterback, but we had to sit him on the bench for three years to drain the Kal out of him.

When the sky is gray, you bet your ass I'll tell you it's not blue.

Now, let's examine a typical M2 post...

"The top <fill in the blank> class is 'Golden'! Everyone wants to be a Cal Bear!"

~news comes over the wire describing how Cal did not in fact land even a Top Ten class of anything~

~four months roll by~

"The top <fill in the blank> class is 'Golden'! Everyone wants to be a Cal Bear!"

"But M2, what about the fact that all those guys either ended up going elsewhere, or they just ended up sucking like sucky suck at Cal?"

"Check out these picks of our stadium! Woohooo! Everyone wants to be 'Golden'!

...too funny."

Poor m2 fails again.

Reading comp isn't your strong point so my bad assuming that you could follow along. In the future I will include extra words so you don't have to worry about following along.

The discussion was about your home schedule, not your overall schedule. USC and OSU mean nothing to your home schedule.

And why doesn't it surprise me at all that m2 would know nothing about PAC 12 agreements. You aren't playing on Friday due to "scheduling", you are playing on Friday because you agreed to do so. You will also play a Friday home game in either 2014 or 2015.

Blaming the stadium renovation for your FCS opponents is laughable.

You mean the same Utah team that allowed "Maynard" to put up 35 or a hundred on last year ?

Cal's been the best defense in the PAC the last 2 years and nothing is going to change. In fact, this years defense will be much better than the last two years.

You're simply an idiot.

The discussion was about your home schedule, not your overall schedule.

You said, that Oregon would win easily at Cal this year (home schedule) and I pointed out to you that Oregon has lost their last 3 out of 4 games they played at California Memorial Stadium... and the 1 win they had they barely won (Cal held Oregon's high octane offense) to just 1 offensive TD in that game.

No team in the country has done that... for what ...4 or 5 years ???

Let's look at a little more of your brilliance... shall we ???

Wait just a damn minute. Goobs says that 1937 Bears (Cal's last CFB NC) team was tough as shit.

Ummm... that would be me. And it was the 20's when Goober became a grandfather and you had your first kid.

The Wonder Teams

The 1920s saw the first golden age of California football, as the Golden Bears went 50 straight games without a defeat from 1920 to 1925, with a record of 46 wins and 4 ties. As of 2010, this is the 3rd longest unbeaten (not to be confused with winning) streak in NCAA history. The 1920-1924 squads were so dominant that they were nicknamed "The Wonder Teams," and were coached by Andy Smith.

In the first half of the 1920s, the University of California at Berkeley was the home to a football dynasty that some purists say is the greatest team of all-time. They were called the Wonder Teams.

That must be a recent change then, because it wasn't very long ago that USC was #1 all-time in combined men's and women's NCAA titles.

In any case, though, we know we're only talking football here, not women's golf.
