Check out Young Woody Allen there, looking totally starstruck and utterly out of place on a football field.

"Oh my god, would you look at the size of that gorilla! And those tattoos! Who does he think he is, a Maori warrior? This is New Orleans, not ancient Micronesia, for crying out loud."

Plus we have Chris Crisco's svelte little brother ambling on by...

'Mmmm...corn dogs....'

Big games are won in the trenches, right? Bama has a decided advantage here. If Michigan gets some breaks and wins the turnover battle...they might cover the spread.

Toussaint pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while visibly impaired after facing the more serious charge of operating while intoxicated. He faces up to 93 days in jail when he is sentenced Oct. 23
I'm all for stiff consequences for DUIs...but 93 days in jail?

And he didn't get a DUI, as perum the "pleaded guilty... after facing the more serious charge of operating while intoxicated."

Do they hand out jail sentences for jaywalking too?

Men amongst boys

Michigan was a fraud

Thankfully, the ESPN hype machine will now stop their asinine drivel about Denard Robinson. He's extremely overrated/

I'm sorry to be "that guy" that goes all revisionist history and shit, but I just have one simple question for anyone who picked Michigan to cover this game:

Why?

Shit, even the UM fans here picked Bama to cover. That should've told you all you needed to know. Well, except for Wolverine Steve, but he's always been a delusional asshat.

Preseason polls are frauds...don't blame them for the clueless media hype. They're going to be a decent team but decent still gets you an ass-whipping from Allerbammer.

I'm overseas and didn't see any of the game. I did stay up to about 3am to follow it via the Internet but decided to go to sleep at 31-7. I was hopeful for a close game, I figured winning was out of the question. Bama panted us...props to them and Sam.

bama looked fucking awesome....either that or michigan was just way overhyped....i think it's the former, with a little bit of michigan hyperbole tossed in....in any event, Alabama has that air of invincibility about them

only going on my own little corner of michigan fans but no one really had any pretensions of beating bama. was definitely that bit of "you never know" optimism going into the game but in the couple weeks leading up to the it we were basically just telling each other that penn state only lost by 16 last year, so there's that. i didn't even have confidence they'd cover the spread, let alone win, so never even approached anger watching the game, just resignation to the idea our season begins next week. bama and lsu basically field five separate recruiting classes while we're trying to rebuild our d-line and reconfigure our o-line with not at all great lineman save one. that and seems like borges is going to give away a couple games this year trying to let denard's sniper loose. hopefully for us he puts his square peg away much earlier than he did this year.

that said, can lose by 50 to bama and still run through the rest of the big ten, for real.

I think they'll lose two or three conference games. For starters, they have a tougher conference schedule this year. This time, they've got NU and OSU on the road. But they do avoid Wisky again. Secondly, last year UM had one of those miraculous seasons in which they suffered no significant injuries. That just doesn't happen. Those things have a way of reversing the following season. Hell, they already lost their best DB for the year to an ACL tear. They also lost their starting LT, who's a stud, for at least a few games. Outside of Armpunt, those are perhaps the two guys they need the most. They also don't really have the depth at very many positions to afford any key injuries. Aside from all that they're just not that good...not against teams not named Purdue and Northwestern.

like i said, bama's on another level. saban memorial hospital keeps the team fit and lean, whereas the rest of the cfb world has to carry around their excess 4-star washout belly fat like it ain't no thang.

michigan is too thin at key positions, so selah, will just have to wait till 2015. i spent the whole off-season all fuckja about hoke's killer recruiting when i realized all those fuckers still have to play their senior seasons in hs.

The touchback rule is worse. Why single out kickoffs for placement at the 25? Hell, I love having that particular weapon in my arsenal, wish ND had it every year.

If I were going to single out a touchback for placement at the 25, it would be on a punt. That might open up the offenses more, or encourage long FG attempts, rather than pooch punts. More offense is a good thing.

Terry,

The reason for the touchback going to the 25 on kickoffs was to encourage returners to stay in the end zone. As explained to us at our summer meetings the committee of coaches wanted to reduce the number of kickoff returns because it is the single most dangerous play in football.

The helmet rule will likely be forgotten by the end of the season as player will finally strap their helmets the way they were intended. For those who don't like the fact that the player has to come out when his helmet comes off, you will really hate it when he also get a 15 yard penalty for continuing to play without one and has to sit out a play.

So how do the walk-ons that populate the kicking teams prove their worth?

We used to call the kickoffs "tryouts."

I say bring back the flying wedge formation...it would be like the Hunger Games.

One of the local radio guys 'round these parts (and former NFL player) claims that today's helmets are made to "pop off" more easily when a jarring hit occurs, so as to avoid your brain rattling around inside your helmet like a pinball. But, I don't know if there's any truth to that.

In any event, the amount of guys trying to better secure their helmets will likely be offset by the amount of guys trying to intentionally rip them off. And it's going to be difficult for the refs to catch that at times, due to the bang-bang speed of the game today, not to mention all the stuff that goes on under the pile. Did you watch any football last Saturday? It was a chronic issue...and I don't think it was all just due to loosened chin straps.
