aTm/Florida

Post by Go Coogs' »

Aggies look fired up right now. A lot of alums were pessimistic about Sumlin's offense working in the SEC. So far it looks pretty good. Sumlin is on a short leash already and a lot of people only have him lasting two seasons. I hope he and the Aggs make a statement today.

That hit on the Florida safety by aTm's RB was brutal.

Almost pains me to say that the Aggies are really looking good today. Florida looks pretty bad and I'm so glad the HCIW of Will Muschamp never materialized at Texas. His Florida defense reminds me the way his last Texas defense used to get shredded.

It's possible Florida's defense is a fraud, but lets not forget to credit Sumlin's ability to build great offenses.

So if Florida finds a way to win this one, does the Aggie crowd still chant SEC SEC SEC?

That was awesome! Total build up of confidence in the first half, playing pretty good ball, and the home team fans feeling frisky. Then the 2nd half melt down and the air deflated out of that piece of shit part of Texas. Bullshit way that Sumlin changed his "1st game suspensions" of some players and the booing of injured Florida players= karma up the ass and a loss in their SEC debut. I hope they go 0'fer the rest of the year. I wonder if they won half time again?

New Aggie Coach - check

New Aggie Uniforms - check

New Dual Threat Aggie QB - check

New Aggie Conference - check

Same old Aggie second half meltdown - CHECK

Crap tons of Aggie moral victory hype all over the place this weekend and spilling over to today. Thankfully not much of it from the HC or players.

What I have heard from a ton of Aggies is that this game proved the belong in the conference and that they will be just fine in the rest of their schedule. What most are forgetting is that they had this down as a win in the summer. What they also forget is that this was the first win by a Muschamp coached Gators team when trailing at the half and that this Gator team was pretty bad themselves. ATM got 8 sacks and still lost? WTF. Say hi to 5 wins Aggies.

And somehow FU makes that big a move up in the Top 25. Guess someone had to replace Arkansas.

Hell, the Big 12 is better today than it was this time last year.

The SEC on the other hand has added two underachieving classicly mediocre teams that will try to add to their one combined conference title of the last twenty years.

Apparently Sac St is some sort of mid-tier Pac 12 team.

No, the SEC is still the best conference until proven otherwise. But my question still stands, did the SEC actually get better or did they just get bigger? The Big XII clearly got better.

Such as? I've yet to read where even a single poster here besides maybe a trolling M2 has said that the SEC isn't the best conference. There are a thousand other things that have also been said about how and why they've become the best conference of late, but no one has disputed that they are in fact the best conference over the past half-decade.

They just aren't the best by anywhere near the margin you SECBSHs claim them to be, and the six straight MNCs in no way prove your point to the extent that you and Jsc seem to think they do.

Getting their shit together in the second half against Mizzou has about as much relevance as a Kajagoogoo ditty towards earning a #6 ranking. The scary thing is Georgia now only has one game left this season before cruising into the SEC Cash Grab affair, and even that one is contingent on how seriously we're to take South Carolina.

I've been saying since the schedules were announced during the off-season that Georgia's schedule is an absolute joke. When all you have to do is be an SEC member in decent standing to gain a Top 10 ranking, there's something very wrong. When you are then also not required to do anything more than beat perpetually meh Mizzou and overrated South Carolina in order to run the table and earn a shot at a conference title game, you're...Georgia.

Seriously, look at their schedule. You tell me. Who else is supposed to beat them? Florida? That's it? Shitty ass Florida? Georgia plays no one OOC. They play eighteen of their twelve games at home. They get to skip both LSU and Bama for the second year in a row.

Your Warner-Robbins Little League team could go 6-6 with Georgia's schedule.

I don't get the hate for Georgia. They went on the road, against a reasonably good team, and won by double digits with several starters out. Not sure what more you can ask for. They're a solid team.

Agree about their remaining schedule though...

Count the road games. Count the short weeks following actual airplane-required road games.

We could do this with every team out there, and Georgia's schedule will still come out near the bottom. Moreover, they get to start the season ranked way too high, based on...? Who did they or Arkansas beat last year to deserve those Top 10 rankings?

For that matter, take a look at your beloved LSU Tigers from the SEC! SEC! SEC! You just said Washington is terrible, and they were the highlight of LSU's OOC schedule. The remaining three games are all at home against North Texas, Idaho and D1-AA Towson. It seriously doesn't get much weaker than that. During conference play all they have are Bama and South Carolina, both also at home. Auburn is gawdawful, Arkansas just lost at home to Louisiana Millard Filmore, and...what?

Who else is on their schedule?

At least USC will likely have to beat Oregon twice (or vice versa) in order to get to the title game, plus they play six real road games. LSU has a one-game schedule, and unless you think Michigan is some great shakes then Bama (Western Kentucky, D1-AA Western Carolina, Florida Atlantic) also only has a one-game schedule.

Who the fuck are Western Carolina?

~does a quick google search~

Dude, their stadium's capacity is 13K. Yep, thirteen thousand. We're not even talking a Texas high school stadium. Gwar could sell the place out.

This shit is laughable.

We could ask for an unranked, perennial nobody to not be their toughest game of the season, other than maybe South Carolina. We could ask for them not to schedule Buffalo and Georgia Southern, both at home. We could ask for them not to be given an automatic Top 10 ranking despite an utter lack of significant wins during your lifetime.
Agree about their remaining schedule though...
We're only two weeks into the season, and already their remaining schedule is nearly all downhill from here. That's a problem.

Yes, they are, and deservedly so. See, unlike Georgia year after year, Boise St isn't handed an automatic Top Ten preseason ranking based on absolutely nothing. At least Boise St actually wins eleven or twelve games most years, plus they go out and win BCS bowl games. What has Georgia ever done under Mark Richt to deserve their annual high ranking? What did they do last year to deserve this year's high ranking, and what can they do this season to validate such a high ranking, considering their creampuff schedule?

They're the epitome of the old George W. Bush joke about being born on third base and thinking they hit a triple.

Count how many times Boise St has been given a preseason Top Ten ranking. The number will likely be less than five. I'm thinking it's more along the lines of once or twice. Now total up the number of times Georgia has been handed an automatic seat at the big boys' table.

And no, even despite Georgia's perennially soft schedules Richt hasn't averaged ten wins per season. Including extra wins from CCGs and bowl games, Georgia has 106 total wins during Richt's eleven full seasons as their head coach.
