I have lost count, but this will make like the fourth or fifth year that I will not be making Chiefs games appointment television.
Thanks for freeing up some time for me, Chiefs.

Looks like the Patriots remembered some important things this offseason: defense is equally important to winning in this league as offense. Also, to counter a pass-rush, you HAVE to run the football. Patriots scored rushing, passing and on defense. More important: the Pats ran the ball as a 'feature' not just as an afterthought. They showed some flashes of pass-rush, sacked Locker twice forcing a turnover and scored on it, then held Johnson to only FOUR yards rushing for the game. Physical, multidimensional offense, much improved (so far) on defense. A DAMN good start.

what I learned today is that home field advantage was virtually non-existant and that the replacement refs let illegal blocks and other infractions go unpunished all over the place.

If the Lions are going to be playing with a beat-up secondary, the defensive line is going to have to produce more pressure than today.

Stafford got a little too cute with a couple of those picks. He's going to have a lot of guys to throw to again this year...he just has to make better decisions. The running game still isn't very good but they still nearly outgained the Rams 2:1 overall. This game shouldn't have been this close but the turnovers were an equalizer.

Next week on the road in San Francisco on SNF...I'm not encouraged by what I saw today to think they can beat the Niners after what they did today at Lambeau.

Houston's offensive line needs to play better. Their run blocking was shit today. Miami's front seven is a strength, but the o-line didn't do Foster and Tate any favors. A couple/few dropped passes didn't help the offense either and the run defense looked a little suspect. If the Texans want to be a contender, then they need to clean some things up. They'll lose to the premier teams if they play like they did today.

yep, made a pretty good defense look mediocre....tough to believe he's been off work for two years (although I noticed a lot of his throws weren't exactly textbook spirals)....and who knew he could run?

the denver defense is a lot better than last year....tracy porter was a huge get for them.....pick your poison, porter or bailey

Amazing what a difference having a real QB will make in Denver...that's a legit team now with that defense and a functional signal caller under center. You don't need to dumb down the playbook and come up with gadget plays for him...he is the friggin' playbook.

Who else do they have other than a bunch of slappies who can run real fast in a straight line and can't catch a cold? Palmer certainly isn't any better than average at best.

It's going to take the Duhs a couple years at least to dig themselves out of the hole alvis dug for them.

I actually agree with pop on this one. Using McFadden they way they did in game 1 is only going to get D-Mac to week 5 and then he'll be dead. Mike Goodson and Tawain Jones should've been in the rotation and Heyward-Bey probably had some open looks downfield, but Palmer was reluctant to pull the trigger. I'll give the Chargers some credit for their defense. They played well.

The new regime came in and tried to fix what wasn't broke - the offense.

Verrah dumb.

New Head Coach, O-Coordinator, new offense - which is not, imo, a good fit for Palmer's skills.

They let their TE and last year's top ball carrier (M. Bush) leave.

Hue Jackson had his faults as Raider head coach, but what he did have was a legitimately bright offensive mind.
Despite playing without 2 starting receivers, it wouldn't have been... McFADDEN ALL NIGHT LONG.

McFadden will break and the defense will eventually break, too.

You need to adjust your expectations. The Duhs aren't a good team...at all. With the exception of some critically stupid penalties, the defense played fairly well. You can build around that and well above average special teams support from Seabass and Lechler.

The offense is loaded with stiffs, busts and gimps. It will take a couple years to fix that. I think the new management has the team pointed in the right direction.

DeMarcus Ware has 101.5 career sacks now in less than 100 career games if you need him. It's becoming ho hum as he got Eli twice Wednesday night. DeMarco Murray is looking like the league rushing champ, we just haven't seen him in a full season but you look at him physically and you can tell that he can carry 30 times a game if he had to and gets stronger as the game goes along. Dallas' upgrade in the secondary is already paying off, and Romo is making unknown receivers look like world-beaters once again.
