Woo Hoo! My best week ever.

Umm,

LSU covered, right?

24-19, for a total of 43. I should have 9 with a variance of 5.

What Carson said...LSU covered the 3.5.

Yeah, I double-taked on that one.

Goobs is the winner.

Yeah, I looked at those totals and thought, 'Huh? I know I got my measly six again, not five.' Then, looking through the picks, I saw where 88 had me with a loss on the LSU game. Again.... 'Huh? Wasn't the spread LSU -3.5? Didn't they win by five?'

I was positive I had 8. Yep, 88 messed up on the LSU game, as many here have pointed out.

Also, the final on that game was 24-19, so total points were 43, not 53. That may change the outcome.

Fwiw, top picks outside the must pick game:

1. ND 16
2t. Oklahoma 14
2t. Stanford 14
4. Clemson 13
5t. Kansas State 12
5t. Louisville 12
5t. Rutgers 12
8. Oregon State 11
9t. Iowa State 9
9t. Texas Tech 9
9t. Penn State 9

That's either an 8-2 record (if one took Texas Tech or Penn State) or a 7-3 record (if one took Iowa State).

Carson and Goobs both have 9. But 88 was also off on the final score, total should be 43.

That gives Carson a variance of 5, and Goobs a variance of 11. So Carson still wins.

I just know that I learned once again never to pick a USC game. Either for or against, I will never get them right. Even if I had taken them to cover the 40.5 I have zero doubt that Colorado would have scored some garbage-time TD to fuck me.

Never again. Henceforth, I ban myself from picking USC games.

I didn't adjust the points.

Let's not get too worked up about someone hitting the adjacent key in a typo (a 2 instead of a 1).

BTW, I was the only one to take Kentucky?

Heck, you could call them Team A and Team B, and I'd take the 28.5 at home in any major conference game...and if you ell me it's Homecoming, I'll start selling off my shit to bet the proceeds on it.

Absolute freebie.

The Ramblin' Wreck is a great name for them... no team has the ability to Wreck a parlay like GT, the team that never ever commits itself to any given skill level -- it's a week-to-week crapshoot, every year.

Completely fucking agree about GT. I gave up on trying to sort them out years ago. Other schizo teams like that are Miami, Pitt, Cal (yep), Arizona St, Taco Tech, and North Carolina.

I've made it almost a rule never to pick USC games. Now? Scratch the 'almost' part. I don't care how tempting a pick either for or against them may seem, from now I will simply "la la la la!" right over it.

Don't forget UDub. Whatever seems the normal route for them to go regarding point spreads, they'll do the opposite.

ND is no slouch for being a point spread fucktangle.

I made the mistake of putting real money on Pitt -10 this week. Watched in horror as Buffalo marched all the way to the 7 yard line in the last minute but finally ran out of downs.

I took Pitt too, and until you mentioned what happened I had no idea that I didn't win it in a cakewalk. That's why it's better not to watch these damn things. Just check the scores late at night and save yourself the anguish. Maybe you'll win one by a half point, and did you really need to know that you totally lucked out? Or, even worse, if you happen to lose one by a half point right at the end, damn, would you have wanted to go through the slow bleed on the way down?

Nah. ESPN's College Football Scoreboard site is your sanity's best friend. Well, aside from not betting on this shit at all.

I don't even remember who I took in pick'em come Saturday but obviously watch the games I bet on, provided they're on at a convenient time considering time zones, ie. whenever Michigan's playing.

I took K State -7 over ISU the other week and watched them take a knee around the ISU 20 with 1:30 or something, up 6. Won a big parlay earlier this year that hinged on Wisco covering against Illinois. Took that as a loss until Wisco suddenly blew up in the 4th, only to let Illinois wake up for all of four seconds to score again. Wisco was just burning clock when Bell broke off a long run, TFG.

I suppose betting isn't the best idea in the world but also the only reason I pay attention to bottom-feeder MAC schools, so there's that.

My schtick when the team I bet on isn't going to cover a large spread is to hope they lose as some sort of divine punishment for fucking me out of a few dollars.

I ran out of spleen doing that. Too many times it went the other way, with the team that blew my bet still winning ugly and double fucking me. They could have at least had the good grace to go ahead and lose the game too.

Take a bow, LSU.

No sweat, 88.

I'm sure we all appreciate you running the contest.

This has been a nice distraction for me from Auburn's total meltdown.

Yes, we do.

And does this week really matter? While I haven't been playing as long as most of you, Ive seen this movie before -- we all vie to win a week, or get a good overall percentage, so we can qualify for the Bowl Championship...

and get our asses handed to us by Wolverine Steve.

It's like death and taxes and Michigan's preseason top 10 ranking.
