What do you union sack munchers think of this?
Good luck hearing about this story from NBC.

Why am I not surprised?
Someone should ask those without power if they want their electricity on today or want to wait for union hacks to do the job. Bet the answer is, who cares just get it back online.

I would let Al Queda do it if it meant I had lights and heat again.
So far, it's been mild. That will change this weekend. Don't know if it will be a hard freeze, but, it will get cold enough to seriously piss off those sitting in the dark now.
Let's hope fatboy does a little thug head knocking real soon. if I were him, I would get in front of every camera available and call these fukking thugs out.

STFU -- unions CARE about people, DAMMIT!!!!
Sin,
The Usual T1B Suspects
No, but seriously -- it's important that utility, and all state workers be unionized. Otherwise the ratepayers/taxpayers would have them working in unsafe conditions for $2 an hour.
Remember -- cast your votes for the Union Party. How else can we get executive orders to supercede written law to make sure the unions get paid off by the taxpayers, and the people who own the company get screwed?

Even worse, it's not an isolated incident and seems to be happening all over the state.
Therefore all union members and anybody whoever supported union membership are to blame for this.

This is a trial run for when the SHTF.
In other areas of the country, people actually prepare and plan for weather related issues. In our rural area, the electricity going out is not something that happens after a huge storm, it is something that happens every week. Our local private utility's have very poor line maintenance and outages are frequent. I am fortunately now on a public utility, and our outages are about once a year for an hour at the most.
When I was on a private utility, I had and still do have backs ups. Wood heat. 10,000 watts of generating power. 16 hp gas engine and 350 gpm per minute fire pump with 1000 gallons water storage with foam injection. Vehicles never below 1/2 tank. 50 gallons of gas in cans at any given time. 2 months worth of food, and just added another 4 months thanks to our local LDS sale. We have a rig to set up zip lines to cross a creek should we need too. Ham radio both HF and VHF.
You have to have some element of self preservation and non dependence on these fucking governments. If this is not a classic example of why unions control our public employees and essential private services, I do not know what is. Cocksuckers.

The word is trotline. Sung "trot line" by Bocephus. The use of which has been known to induce apoplexy in Dinsdale. And how a lot of rural folk like to shop for their groceries.

I've also seen dude's Dirty Jobs show, in bits and pieces. Don't need to watch dude do stuff I've done before, D'oh!

What different people find entertaining has nothing to do with how fulfilling their life might be. There’s a whole subset in here who think Rush is a great band. You probably have a DVR filled with the last 3 seasons of Dancing With The Stars.

The only "reality" shows I've ever watched involve rednecks fishing, and I've been doing that since I was a kid.
And yes, it's absolutely an indication of how fulfilled one's life is.

But KC still believes what ever you read on the internet is true, and song lyrics are no exception.
Song lyrics are butchered very often on internet postings, Santana " You got to change your Evil Ways" is another one that gets butchered on the lyrics all the time.
Not to go all wiki on you, but yeah here it is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trotline
I been playing and singing that tune for years and it is trot line. A reference to a southern way of fishing, running a long line down the bank or across a waterway with multiple lines running off it. Much easier to catch catch fish than trout, but a method I would use if I needed to catch a lot of fish for eating.A trotline is a heavy fishing line with baited hooks attached at intervals by means of branch lines called snoods. A snood is a short length of line which is attached to the main line using a clip or swivel, with the hook at the other end. A trotline can be set so it covers the width of a channel, river, or stream with baited hooks and can be left unattended. There are many ways to set a trotline, with most methods involving weights to hold the cord below the surface of the water. They are used for catching crabs[1] or fish (particularly catfish[2]). Trotlines should be used with caution as they are illegal in many states.
Trotlines can be contrasted with droplines. Whereas a trotline has a series of hooks suspended horizontally in the water, a dropline has a series of hooks suspended vertically in the water.
Just a way of life for me, and B's FTFY is really pretty much spot on.

The way the crabs have been hitting in my personal crab fishery at Tillamook Bay, I will have another 2 limits in Sunday morning easily. Drive 52 miles. Toss out the crab pots off the dock. Go eat breakfast. Pull the pots and crabs, rebait and reset. Go visit the widow who lets us park boats, trailer and such at her house, crack and give her a couple crabs. Go pull the pots, rebait/reset. Coffee and a nap in the truck at Barview. Pull the pots and crabs and go home. Clean the crabs and cook. Crack and eat crabs with Jack Daniels and water back. Crab pasta the next night. Repeat again in about 2 to 3 weeks.
We clean our crabs before we cook them. Not like the ones you get in the store.

My Granddad used to run trotlines on the Osage back when i was a kid, Derron. We'd go out on his Jon Boat at dusk, run the hooks, then turn around at dawn before breakfast to collect the night's catch.
Folks used to set up a huge iron pot over an open fire for the evening's fish fry... Pretty close to the same experiences, 88. We called them limb lines and jug lines. It was always a thrill to see a tree branch waving or a milk jug moving against the current and knowing that you had a pretty nice fish hooked below it. And we used to go gigging too. We'd take a Coleman gas lantern out on the Jon boat at night and hurl treble-forked gigs at bullfrogs. The light also attracted giant carp. Granddad was pretty handy with a gig, and wasn't one to let a meal swim by. The back pasture looked like a hog-slaughter after he'd finished cleaning those carp. He used to cut out the white meat ( :? ) and take it in to Grandma to "put up" (can) in Mason jars. I can't say I've ever tasted canned carp, but I'm sure they put it to good use when I wasn't around.
Caught our share of snapping turtles on trotlines. Me and a cousin liked to've went through a box of .22 shells trying to kill a thirty pound snapper we landed once. Finally got hold of his neck with a pair of pliers and took a hatchet to him. Fucker refused to die. Caught a cotton mouth once too. We left the line in the water that day.

Which has exactly dick to do with trotlines. But rack the outings you shared with your boys...
Re: Sandy can't put down union thuggery
I had a friend in college who was a fishery biologist major and for his senior term paper he was doing some salmon fish count study. Rigged up this electrical shocking thingamajig and put it in the river at a known salmon hole and hit the switch. Might have had a bit much current on it since the hole just went floating with salmon a minute or two later.
He looked around and said, I think I fucked up. We stunned a few, and wasted more than a few. Did his counts, and the ones that came too, we let go, but the rest we took with us. Over 17 chinook salmon. We would have gotten 5 years for all those fish. Ate pretty well that winter though. He is now a high up game warden in the state, and we still laff our asses off about it.
Carp are great crab bait. Usually started the kids with pellet guns on carp in some shallows. The Mexicans around here love them. Showed the dudes who used to work for me where they were, and they would load up on them. Give me the bycatch trout. Probably start the grandsons on the carp in a couple of years too.
I was at a consulting gig some years ago in Maryland, and looked out the dudes office window and there was this snapping turtle eating on a goose on his pond. He jumps up, geos and gets a .300 Win Mag and whacks the turtle. I asked him if it took that 300 Win Mag to do the job, and he said hell yes, the fuckers are harder than hell to kill and had eaten about a dozen geese.
Looks like KC gave the boys a good experience. Started mine that way and all 4 of them still fish to the day, 2 of them pretty hard core and good at it. going next week with one of them. It is a lot of fun still , even with them being in their late 20's..they get to do the hard work.

I do not see reason for out rage over this. It happens all the time and pretty much during any storm restoration in northern states. Last year my job sent some technicians to work in Ohio after some flooding and some guys were sent home when they could not produce a union card. Utility workers flock to storm areas partly for the humanitarian aspect ,but mostly for the almighty dollar. I imagine the crews turned away for not being union were simply reassigned to another area. Pretty much a non story except we are close to an election.

Reminds me of about 20 years ago, my buddy and I got good and liquored, and decided we were going to fish the Dam Hole on the Poor White Trask(closed while the fall salmon are running, due to too many fish).
First hookup of a massive chinook took... about 20 seconds. Think that one got loose, so in about another 20 seconds, hooked another.
In about another 20, the cop had his ticket book out.
Ooops. That stater who patrolled the Tillamook streams was a major dickhead. But he was very large and very well-armed, so I never told him how I felt about him in our many, many interactions.
We also caught that dude and some cohorts poaching fish out of the hatchery on the North Fork, when we decided to go find somewhere to fish in flood conditions. Went down to the hatchery just to look in the ponds and see how the runs were, and cop and a couple of guys were loading up a truckload of coho. Probably wouldn't have thought much about it -- some sort of fishery project or something... except these fuckers freaked the fuck out when we walked up. For a minute, I thought they were going to cap our ass and dump is in the river... weren't sure we were getting out of there alive. Eventually, the dude with the badge and the gun and the police radio bullied us back to the truck.
Fuck, I hated that asshole. Glad he's gone.

Remember that dude well. He thought he was Tonto the fucking skilled Indian, and more than once, he would try and hide down the river by Kansas Creek and watch me and a buddy fish. One day he followed us to three different holes. Must have been a slow week day, because he never "contacted" us that day, but usually marched right down most other days. He was not very good at hiding, sounded like a herd of elk coming down the bank, and the reflection off his binos gave him away pretty much all the time.
After checking my license and tags about 15 times in one season, you think he might have figured out I pretty much played by the rules (most of the time). He checked us one time and told my buddy, you look kind of fucked up. ( He was). Buddy (former Hells Angel) shrugged his shoulders and said, well I try to be when I go fishing. Cop stammered a bit, but had no reason to jack us up for anything even with the beers in our vest pockets.
All the old school game wardens are gone..don't know any of them more. The retired ones are out punching their salmon, deer and elk tags with the best game in the double secret locations.
The North Fork....snagging and not tagging fish capital of Oregon. Fucking tweaker locals make that are unfishable at times. I go very well armed there, carrying at least 2 pieces.
