Time to move on

past the election rhetoric. For me, anyway. Sure, I'll admit that I'm very disappointed in the result. Not surprised, but disappointed. Not as disappointed as I was in 1996 when Dole lost... I was depressed for days. But I got over it. I take this shit way too seriously. I take after my dad, who in 1952 had a nervous breakdown when Stevenson lost to Eisenhower, or so my mom told me many years ago.

Oh well, I'll toss this thread out here for any of the libs who want to gloat, rub it in, say I told you so, whatever. I deserve it.

But I respect the American electoral process and understand why it is the way it is. I respect the will of the American people and they have spoken. No sour grapes here. I don't have to like the result, but I have to accept it.

Wags, during my lifetime our country has survived a presidential assassination, a president resigning from office in shame, numerous wars, and an economy that has seen peaks and valleys, so I'm confident that we can survive another four years of Barack Obama. If the folks we sent to D.C. will sit down and work together to solve the major problems we face, we'll be fine. Who knows what the next four years might bring.....Mizzou might win another game in the SEC, Iowa might beat Northwestern or Indiana (but probably not in the same year), and the Cubs and Royals will still suck. See? Life goes on.

I never bitched about taxes, or the price of gas and groceries.

I wonder if anybody else around here makes a habit of that.

BTW, I'd like to see you find a way to blame Obama for this:

.
U.S. fuel exports grow to historic levels
Energy experts say increased fuel exporting by U.S. refiners is one of the reasons that gasoline and diesel prices have been so high.

If you're wondering what happened to cheap U.S. fuel, look to Mexico, Canada and even OPEC member Venezuela

U.S. refiners are selling diesel and gasoline to those and other countries at historically high levels, making the nation a net exporter of fuel for the first time since 1949, according to the Energy Department.

Such enthusiastic exporting is one of the reasons that gasoline and diesel prices have been so high, energy experts say. Consumer advocates see it as harming motorists because gallons exported aren't available to U.S. gas pumps.

But refiners defend the practice as a necessary profit booster that benefits suppliers, workers and shareholders, such as retirement funds.

The export flow includes California, where refinery problems recently left fuel supplies and production near five-year lows and brought a new record average of $4.671 for a gallon of regular gasoline.

Yeah, but it's a lot more fun to wring your hands over every little thing and cry out this country is fucked...before sitting down to a delicious steak dinner.

True. We don't really know what it means to have it rough.

Look at the bright side Wags. You can continue drinking yourself into a stupor and chain smoke your cheap cigs every night just as you have for years.

At least Abe went quick. Garfield was a tough sonofabitch. He lingered for nearly 3 months.
