It's possible, maybe even likely, but who the hell knows? If they show up and buy me a beer, we're good.

Re: Do you believe in UFO?
The numbers when it comes to the universe are mind-boggling. The energy of stars, blackholes, etc. Hearing shit like, " a piece of our sun, the size of a grain of sand, contains enough energy/heat to sunburn a person from 100 miles away" makes my head hurt.Papa Willie wrote:There is an astronomical number of planets in the universe. We are only now beginning to be able to "see" planets around other stars because of the vast distances that exist between us and them. How many there actually are is anyone's guess.
What we know about galaxies is that the ones we observe contain 200-400 billion stars each. Our solar system contains 8 planets. If we assume each star has 1 planet, and not more, and we average a galaxy to 300 billion stars we can deduce:
The Hubble Deep Field image contains 10,000 galaxies. At 2.5 arcminutes, that's roughly 1/2,000,000 of the visible universe in any direction. So if we multiply 3,000,000,000 x 10,000 x 2,000,000 we get 6 sextillion or 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets in the visible universe. It is likely much more than that.
SO. If anybody's dumb enough to think that there isn't life elsewhere in the universe, then they need to pour camel splooge on Goober's mother.
There has to be life out there.....probably hundreds of millions of planets with life, in some form, on them. Intelligent life? Absolutely....probably hundreds of thousands of them. Life more advanced than us? Yep. Life more advanced than us capable of interstellar travel? Yep. I think the vastness of the universe itself has probably kept everyone secret from each other (at least us). Contact will be made eventually. Let's hope they're nice otherwise us earthlings might be the next Native Americans when E.T. decides to conquer this shit-hole and harvest the resources.

Right. You posted it up there as if it were your own thoughts. I sometimes post stuff without a link, but I at least acknowledge that it’s a quote. By using the “quote” feature, you know? Congratulations on achieving a Cuda-esque level of posting.Papa Willie wrote:Sorry - I didn't know that I had to provide a link with everything I posted.Goober McTuber wrote:Thank you, KC Willie.Papa Willie wrote:There is an astronomical number of planets in the universe. Do I believe there is intelligent life in the universe in places other than Earth? Absolutely.
Do I believe that Earth has ever been visited by extraterrestrials? No, although I don't rule out the possibility of that happening in the future.

Re: Do you believe in UFO?
Why? There's nothing special about intelligence. We aren't even the most successful form of life on this planet. I don't doubt that life is common on other planets but intelligence takes an entirely different set of circumstances to come about and really isn't a particularly impressive adaptation in the grand scheme of things.Terry in Crapchester wrote:Do I believe there is intelligent life in the universe in places other than Earth?
