Part of me feels badly for all of these guys that are losing their jobs today. The other part says you got exactly what you deserved. Striking against a company in bankruptcy makes no sense. So while you want another $.50 per hour, you now get $0.00 per hour.

Don't look like it was on par with obscene UAW wages, but decent enough...$ 20 to $ 22 per hour. OK in today's economy, beats the fuck out of unemployment.
Not so fast on the unemployment. In most states striking workers are not entitled to unemployment benefits. Any workers who were out on strike as of Friday am will most likely receive zero unemployment. The union will likely offer up some form of small payments but that will be it.

Hostess was/is an iconic brand name, not easily replaced by Little Debbie or whomever. Not sure of all the facts, but I do know that they were originally called Interstate Bakeries and started out in KC in 1930.
Some of those striking employees can not only forget about drawing unemployment benefits, they can kiss their pensions/401k's goodbye as well.
