I never thought I'd have anything positive to say about a prime time soap, and I was totally prepared for this show to follow that assumption, but when I saw that T Bone Burnett was the musical producer I had to at least give it a shot. Six weeks in now and I'm still watching.
Burnett's wife, Academy Award-winning writer Callie Khouri ("Thelma & Louise") is executive producer and writer on most of the episodes, and the main force behind the show. The story line is fairly predictable but includes enough twists to keep it interesting, and Powers Booth stands out in his now customary role as a sleazy back-stabbing manipulator.
But it's the music that makes this show. Really makes it. And I'm not normally a C&W fan. Another big win for T Bone.
