As well you should. A playoff by itself won't correct the SEC bias.

I can hear the fucking crying already.
We would have the exact same bitching. Either the #2 or #3 team will get to play in the NC game, while #4 gets to go to the Sugar Bowl.
How would it be any different than this year?

Why would the bitching next year be any different than the bitching this year?

If this were next year you'd probably be dead from coronary artery disease.

So you just wanted to point out that the crying next year would be the same as this year, and last year, and the year before that? Yeah, that’s college football. Until there is a playoff, there will always be crying.

I could be wrong, but I believe they factor in the polls but there is also a selection committee. Que your conspiracy theories here.
My guess is for the 4 team playoff, they would take 3 of the top 4 as is, drop the loser of the SEC championship game and take Oregon as the #4 team. There would be crying, but less of it, by KSU. If they would just go to an 8 team playoff, then there really wouldn’t be any crying. Sure, teams would be pissed that they didn’t get into the 7/8 slot, but at that point, how can you really bitch? You likely have 2 losses and are arguing that you are better than another 2 loss team.
Go to 8 teams and be done with it.

and if it were next year...OSU would be available...and stuff...
so slide OSU into that 2 or 3 spot.

Except for when Iowa beats them in the CCG.....or maybe not.

Definitely agree on the 8 team theory. And no - the loser of the SEC CG should NOT be in it if it were 2014. There shouldn't be 2 teams from one conference in it if it's going to be 4 games.
I don't have a problem with two teams from the same conference getting into the 4 team playoff if it's clear cut. Last year, if there were a 4 team playoff, Alabama and LSU should have both been in it. Maybe if that is the case, the teams from the same conference play a semi-final game to guarantee there isn't an all (insert conference here) championship game.
This year, the #3 and 4 team are debateable. If it were me, I would give Oregon the nod over Florida, but not KSU. Florida got their ass spanked, but I couldn't get over a .500 team absolutely rolling KSU.
While I love college football and the fact that one loss can crush your season, as I've gotten older I realize that teams get better as the season goes on and if you fuck up twice early ('sup Stanford and Texas A&M), it completely ends your NC shot.
So go to the 8 team play off.

See if I were given the magic scepter of college football, I would have ND/LSU, Alabama/Stanford to avoid a rematch. Otherwise, I completely agree with everything else.

Let's start with 4 and hope it expands to 8. If it ever gets to 16, great.

They could just about cancel the SEC in-conference schedule and each play 7 or 8 FCS schools at home as a warm-up.

Hey buddy - Stanford is playing for the National Championship tomorrow night. It's ALL about the Pac 12!
They're playing Cal?
Damn, I thought it was UCLA. Didn't know we were going up against the best defense in the
Pac 12 world.

If they have Florida as the #3 seed then they still have a lot to learn.

Or the fact that KSU gets punished for a "nasty loss" against Baylor, but Stanford doesn't get hit for the loss against Washington.
Awful.

Having a playoff won't eliminate the whining, whether it's 4 teams, 8, or 16. Someone will always think they're getting screwed and it will generally be because of the SEC bias, I'm sure.

First off, let's clear something up. Had Stanford gotten the touchdown they were “denied”, they would have gone to a second overtime where Stanford would have gotten the ball first and ND’s offense would have had a chance to see what they needed. My guess is that overtime period delayed what would have happened by about 10 minutes.
And if ND lost that game but beat Pitt, then yes, they would be in the top 8.
The issue with their selection is that they ignore one team because of a loss to a sub .500 team, while they completely look past the fact another team has two losses, one of which is to a team that also has close to a .500 record.
The BCS formula isn’t the way to go, but neither is a complete selection committee. KSU gets hammered for one bad game, but Georgia, Stanford and Texas A&M get in with more losses? Even the logic they use is completely asinine. “Yeah, had that Pitt kicker not pushed his kick 2 feet to the right, ND obviously wouldn’t be a top 8 team. But because he did, they have to be the almost unanimous #1 seed.”
If this is the way they are going to do it, they better rethink it quick.

I'm assuming a loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
ND gets #1 because they were the only one who didn't step on their dick. Fine, I get that. But you're telling me that if the exact same team saw a kick go 3 feet the other direction, they would be left out of an 8 team playoff based on some committee approach? That's ridiculious. There's a lack of logic being applied and it drives me insane.
The following point will be brought up:
"Texas A&M's two losses came against ranked teams!"
The counterpoint will not be brought up:
"They only played three ranked teams."
Yes, KSU got boat raced by an unranked team. But they also beat every ranked team they played.
The only potential saving grace is that the committee is suposedly going to release their rankings like the BCS so everyone can still jocky and politic to try and get a spot.
