Do their ends justify their means? Is this attack on the Heartland (Mom, God, Football, and Apple Pie--and guns) constitute a throwing down in a new clandestine era of civil war? Will the trans-constitutional regime of Barry crack down as upon the great Wikileaks hero, Asssange?

Can't you just actually attempt a real take on an interesting subject? It's not just about high-school date rape, but about a particularly imbedded football culture in a small town--which has effectively been cyber-invaded by a mysterious hacking entity. Have you checked out the Anonymous announcements? Ever seen anything like that before? Except in a movie, of course. And while no one will take too much issue with the team members getting run for rape and kidnapping, the forced resignation of a Paterno-like coach suggests a possible blowback--as against Assange.. As for the girl herself, she'll no doubt be condemned for going out partying with black dudes in the first place. It's the Heartland in a microcosm. Try to pretend to be interested.

And..the fervent football community of Steubenville--which is the whole town and surrounding hamlets--will naturally seek to smear the young lady for basically inviting the passed-out sex jag.. The race card comes in because it's a theme as old as America itself. A taboo, if you will, that has been directly presented here. As I've heard, there were all sorts of folks at these parties, white and black, and most were also sixteen. So, besides a dreadful incident of abuse which makes us consider the fake warrior culture promoted through football teams in high-school and college, and a very important and new matter of cyber avengers taking very stark and effective action, we also have a complex and thorny rape case. But I think the Anonymous aspect is most intriguing.

Actually one of the accused is white, but the race card, as it were, does not involve the charges, but the reprisal against the victim. It's standard to smear a date rape victim who presses charges as a slut or whatever, and the fact that she was apparently getting trained by black dudes--along with whites--will simply provide fodder for the defense attorneys--as well as the local reaction which very much wants to preserve the cherished football tradition and character of the town. Get it? It's pretty standard, but what's really important here is the fact of Anonymous acting so aggressively and effectively--basically against the whole town. Have you ever seen anything close?
