So the wife and I went on a ski trip and enjoyed about 3 feet of new snow while we were there. We also did some hiking and snow shoeing while we were there. If you are a skier and haven't been to Taos NM you are missing out. Some of the best skiing in the country and almost no people. Longest lift line was about 30 seconds.
Red River joining the Rio Grande River north of Taos NM. Red River is on the left.
Tighter shot of same.
Red River Canyon.
Rio Grande River on the way down.
River view looking north on way down.
Our Future about a half mile down the trail.
Trail or goat track. We turned around about 200 yards further down the trail as we weren't about to cross the river when the air temp was in the 20s.
Good view of a 12,000 foot peak rising from the high desert which is 8500 feet itself.
View towards Taos Mountain at Sunset with an old rail yard cattle pen.
Top of chair 1.
Looking towards West Basin.
Ski School meeting place at Whistle Stop Cafe. About as crowded as Taos ever gets. Notice only one chair occupied in back ground.
Is this where flocked Christmas trees come from?
Riding lift 8.
Riding chair 6, again notice the lack of other people.
Steeps lose something in the lens.
Looking to Main Street running down from Kachina Peak. Next year there will be a lift to the top of that peak. Now it is about an hour hike. This is from the ridge as we are walking towards Kachina.
Last two folks from our class of five up on the ridge. This is only about a 12 minute walk from top of lift. The last dude there had a bit of a freak out moment waiting and watching but then he had the best run of all of us.
Our own private Mountain? Sure seemed that way.
Looking Southwest towards Los Alamos.
