The company will penalize employees $600 a year if they don't take part in its 'voluntary' wellness program.

Good for CVS. Fat asses and smokers are two of the major causes for
the rest of us having sky high insurance rates.

Well this is just terrible. How dare employers weed out the less qualified mouth-breathers and those whose lifestyle choices make them a massive insurance risk!

Nothing new and it has fukk all to do with being fat. You simply need to fill out a stupid survey. It's really kind of dumb. Not sure what the purpose is. At our company it is a 20 dollar a month charge if you don't do it.

Since I can provide ones that show quite the opposite.
But what a great scam Big Pharma (and the ACS, and a few other grifters) have going. Since it's no longer PC to pick on ethnic groups or gays, and human nature dictates that as humans, we need to pick on
someone, smokers have become the prefered target.
If a person spends their adult life as a heavy smoker (2+ packs a day, although those folks are few and far between), the chances of them dying of something other than lung cancer are still over 99%.
Anyone who looks at the published "stats" on smoking-related deaths/illnesses and doesn't laugh really needs to take a refresher course on basic math.
Remember -- the MAJORITY of non-smokers die from "smoking related illness"... if you miss a field goal, just move the goalposts to suit your agenda.
Now fat fucks, on the other hand... they actually do have a grossly increased risk of negative health repercussions.

Seems to me that smokers and fat fucks tend to die earlier and don't require as much end of life care which is so catastrophically expensive.
The massive coronaries which poleax so many morbidly obese human garbage disposals don't cost your insurance one thin dime so shut the fuck up and offer a fatty another triple bacon cheeseburger with extra large fries.

Look, CVS just saved admin costs by doing it this way.
Tons of companies do this with a different spin. They raised prices for everyone and then offer incentives to complete these online surveys and basic health checks which take the cost back down to where it was.
CVS rather than upping everyone's cost just chose to charge only those who choose not to participate.
Zero difference.
