Boston shellacking CC in the 2nd inning.

Victorino was an awesome signing. Two RBIs already. Lester dealing as well. Keep saying that the Rays are winning the East, though.

The Cubs finish somewhere around the .500 mark and Theo continues to build a contender by 2015. I don't really give a shit about any other teams.

ALCS: LA Angels over Detroit

NL East: Washington
NL Central: Cincinnati
NL West: San Francisco

World Series: LA Angels over Washington

Damn, the AL East is going to be a meatgrinder this year. Wouldn't be shocked to see any of those five win the division.

On paper, Detroit is loaded this year but they'll find a way to fuck it up.

Maybe, but if the Skanks and BloSux are your worst teams, that might be a point in my favor. There's still enough talent on both of those squads to keep them competitive, at the very least. You'll notice I left both out of my playoff predictions.

Tigers still don't have a closer.

I can't see either of the Yanks or the Blow Sux combining to win more than 140 games combined.

The Giants didn't have a closer in April last year either. Turned out pretty well for them.

:)

That made absolutely no sense. In fact, that may be one the worst sentences ever written here.

But yeah, to your point and Mgo's, the AL East seems pretty damn strong when a team that has been to the playoffs something like eighteen out of the last nineteen seasons and which led the AL in wins with 95 just seven months ago could still very easily finish last in the division. I'm loathe to pick against them since they nearly always find a way, but they're just too damn old and beaten up this go around.

Boston? They'll be better (how could they not be?) but in that division it won't be nearly enough.

The Padres will struggle to win 20 games, and they still won't have a contract with Time Warner Cable by the All-Star break.

I won't GARA.

The Gnats will win their third WS in four seasons.

June 1....Sox in first place and whoring the Yankees at their stadium. Mike Napoli with a grand slam

This team is special. I said it back in March and I will continue to say it. BoSox may not look like the most perfect team, but they are the best team. B Strong

With their win over the Giants last night (seven straight wins now) that Padres are two games over .500 and 1 game out of first place.

This is the first time they've been over .500 since the last day of the 2010 season. Who would have thought it?

They still don't have a contract with TWC so I'm not getting any TV.

Rays aren't even on the radar. They always perform like infantiles in the postseason if they are lucky enough to get a wild card. Tigers are more playoff tested and that's the team Boston is prepping for. That's who they will beat in the ALCS...just as I predicted.

Do you even follow baseball? Teams rarely run away with their divisions, especially one as competitive as the AL East. Tampa Bay has the pitching. They aren't just gonna go away quietly. Should be a good battle 'til the end.

Meanwhile, Detroit is trying to extend their lead in the Central but those pesky fucking Indians have ripped off 8 in a row. Third place team, KC, has won 9 in a row. Top 3 teams in the division have won a combined 22 in a row.

Apparently you have know idea the time consuming nature of sucking your own cock over getting a pitcher who hasn't been relevant since the sux were last. No time to actually watch what's going on.

This. Kansas City has won 12-out-of-13 since the break, and have picked up a whole freaking HALF game on the Tigers. Still, at four out of the wildcard, every Royals fan in town is rooting for a Detroit sweep of those faggot Indians. Oh, and feel free to punch Chris Perez in the cunt while you're at it. Sure is nice to be scoreboard watching in August...

you got that right.

I'm damn near giddy and the younger generation of Royals fan who have never seen a winner is downright delirious. The Royals don't deserve to have such a passionate young fan base. Yet they do and the only explanation I can come up with is that us crusty old farts, telling our glory days war stories, have infected them.

There will never be another George Brett, but they want what we had and I hope they get it.

I almost felt bad for Chris Perez that time. Almost. I read that after that game, Perez was nowhere to be found. He avoided reporters, his team, and fled the clubhouse. Alex Avila broke him. A guy hitting .200.

10 in a row now for the Tigers, and the scary thing is, they're still far from playing their best ball. Cabrera is still banged up but playing. Infante (starting 2B) is still out but rehabbing. Peralta is gonzo. Fielder has been in a horrific slump. Their leadoff man can't get on base.

Yet things are humming along quite nicely. Now that the entire starting pitching staff seems to be locked in, and the bullpen issues appear to have been shored up, I think they'll absorb the loss of Peralta's offense just fine.

Have you seen any of these games, Sam? What a series. Three straight rip-your-heart-out wins for the Tigers over the Indians. I stayed up for the game last night. Unbelievable.

Don't worry, you only have to face Scherzer tonight.

Is it safe to say that Mad Max is considered the #1 starter by detoileters now?

From where I'm sitting, it sure is.

Meanwhile, Bruce Chen has shut-out the Bosox thru 6... Bruce fucking Chen of the 83 mph fastball.

YAFJ has to be verklempt by now.

A few weeks ago on local radio, they were debating whether Scherzer had supplanted Verlander as the new "ace" of the staff. Personally, I don't really care. It's just a label. What I can tell you is if the WS started next week, Mad Max would be my #1 guy, without hesitation. And I doubt anything will happen between now and October to change that. Although I will say JV is starting to look like his old self again, and he never did lose his velocity like some lazy critics tried to have people believe.

If the season ended today, Scherzer would start a Game 1 for me...then Verlander, Sanchez, and Fister. A down Verlander is still better than most #2 starters and good luck matching up with a guy like Sanchez in Game 3. Sanchez would probably be the 2nd best starter if he hadn't missed time.

Probably? He is. And the time he missed clearly hasn't affected his performance. The only reason I wouldn't bump Verlander down to #3 would be to not mess with his confidence/psyche. But right now, and really all of this season up to this point, Sanchez is the second best hurler on this club.
