What can 9 out of 10 Americans agree on? Survey says: not much. That's partly because the big polls such as Pew, Gallup and the General Social Survey are designed to explore differences, not to document what unites the United States. Still, a few questions discover 90 percent agreement, or close to it.

Americans nearly all:

-believe in God.

-are very patriotic.

-consider preventing terrorism a very important foreign policy goal.

-admire those who get rich by working hard.

so long as they hand over their "fair share"

-think society should ensure everyone has equal opportunity to succeed.

-believe cloning humans would be morally wrong.

-believe it's wrong for married people to have affairs.

Agreeing with something on principle is one thing, acting on those is another. 9 in 10 Americans believe they should vote. If they all turned out to vote we would have President Romney in the White House. If 9 in 10 were faithful to their spouse our divorce rate would be a lot lower. Our failure to act on things does not mean that they are not worthwhile goals.

I know plently of people squawking about the gun laws that have been passed in CT recently and the Obama administration...yet they still refuse to vote.
I haven't stopped voting. But I hold out little hope in things changing and I no longer tolerate the clueless expressing their opinions.

One guy- all upset about winning a gun at his Ducks Unlimited event, and he cannot legally own it.

Funny thing is...this is the person who was pushing for me to get my CCW a few years ago. He's a former member of The Huns {a CT gang that was associated with the Angels, I believe}.

I don't care to hear any more of the illegal and threatening comments I've heard him lash out against our duly elected. I just laugh and walk away. All talk.

You know what? The guy who taught the NRA saftey class was right about the "Pussy" Huns...all talk.

Ask a Muslim if they believe in God and the answer will be yes. Same for Hindu, yeahway, Bhudda, etc, etc, etc. God hardly denotes Christianity.

If you want to see who believes in Christianity, you would ask something along the lines of, "do you believe Jesus died for your sins, rose again and will return?". That would eliminate those who believed in Allah and the like.
