Good fucking crikey. How long can this shit go on? WHat contraption is making this sound now? It's not a backhoe or a chainsaw or a woodchipper. It sounds like a bunch of bags filled with gravel are being spun at high RPMs and are beating against solid rock :doh:


A few years ago when I was on vacation in AZ and I hiked up this peak, Montezuma or Coronado Peak, I forget which, I suddenely realized that I was outdoors and in complete fucking silence- which you never really experience here on the east coast along the I-95 corridor. There is always some fucking sound coming from somewhere.


It was so quiet on that peak, I could even occasionaly hear the noise that birds wings make as they glide through the air...which I never realized one could actually hear. It was a somewhat haunting experience, as if Navajo spirits were circling about me in the form of whatever type of swallow was circling around on the soft breeze.

I don't think I will ever know rest again.

But damn impulse buying. This is the most I've ever forked over for a boxed set. I'll be relieved when it actually gets here without shipping issues or damage.

It arrived today and looks to be in good condition....phew.

I think I'll hold off listening to it until this weekend. Set up the fire pit, rig s soundsystem outdoors , set up a few lounge chairs, have 'que and refreshments all set, and make a night of listening to the entire set all the way through...weather and physical limitations permitting, of course.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions about the set, Spray.

Just got through listening to the first disc.

If anything, it's refreshing to hear the great Duane Allman having the same skill level on guitar as I had as an 18-20 yo.


Where did he go right after that? I mean...I did all the drugs he did at that age. I was all set in that department.

Even though Duane had similar game as an 18-20 yo, it doesn't take too much investigation as to why he left everyone else behind. He just seized every opportunity that he could to get better. Practiced like a mo fo.

Got a few personal contact stories.

Jaimoe's brother in law- worst fight I've ever been in my life. I mean, I got fucking massacred by this guy, and he's only a puny little shit.

Admittedly my game was a bit off that night. Those two cases of beer, almost a full quart of vodka, coke, weed, and God knows what else....had quite a lot to do with it. Seems as if I must have fought half the town that night. I kept on running into people asking "WTF was the matter with you?" years afterward. Very sketchy on what happened that night and a lot of it I have absolutely no recollection whatsoever- Damage to houses from people that tried to help me, damage to vehicles that tried to give me a ride. None worse than the damage to my nose and face, tho.

At least I didn't run into Jaimoe. At least I don't think I did. :?


Edit- Lucky not to have suffered Duane and Berry's fate. Because a lot of the fighting was from me wanting to ride my motorcycle and people trying to stop me. I do remember trying to ride home, bike almost completely trashed and the clutch cable broke, running off the road and crashing about every 100 yards at one point and then running out of gas and leaving it on I-95



Another tale-

A coworker of mine from several years ago ran into Dickey at a club up around Hartford where he was playing. "Black Eyed Sally's", I think it's called. Anyway, Dickey was drunk off his ass and tried hitting on her to a supposedly very uncomfortable degree. It's my guess that Dickey was severely intoxicated, because the coworker in question is a 300 lbs. black woman

Occasionally i'll run into his bro in law and he always seems to expect me to seek revenge. That's not how I am. I realize that I was a complete drunk dick that night and I write it off as a learning experience. Never really got that wildly drunk again after that. Drunk, but not violenly psycho drunk.

I couldn't get that drunk again. Not without a good summers worth of building up my tolerance to handle that much alcohol.
