Let's hear it. If Bradley Manning is dismissed as a traitor by the same folks who are claiming Edward Snowden a hero, I say we're being divided and ruled.

Who exactly is calling Manning a traitor and Snowden a hero? And why would they?

I didn't realize Manning exposed the abuse of our 4th amendment rights.
That said, both should be roped in a bag with a dog and a cat and tossed into the river Tiber...

what, exactly, did either manning or snowden reveal that wasn't revealed on national TV by 60 Minutes at least 20 years ago?

Well, if you're actually listening to what folks are saying you've heard a constant denunciation of Manning by the right-wingers--from whored out congressmen to fraudulent talk-show hosts regarding him as having betrayed the War On Terror and America's ability to lead that effort in proper secrecy. But now the same folks are rather confusedly embracing Snowden for exposing the same secrecy that Cheney described as "going to the dark side." The true weirdness appears when suddenly once bitter foes are now aligned.
The battle inside the GOP has left leading tea party figures such as Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh in uncomfortable alignment with independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described Democratic socialist from Vermont who caucuses with Democrats; Michael Moore; Glenn Greenwald; Julian Assange and Daniel Ellsberg. They are pitted against establishment figures from both sides, such as Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), liberal Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer (Calif.), and diplomat Richard Haass.
No, surprise the tedious lil' morons like Trupid can't grasp any part of the whistleblowers' plan or purpose and just want business as usual in America's marauding militarism.

You DO realize that there are consequences for violating a national security clearance, correct L-Tard? Or is such an oath considered by you as so-much lip service? Army privates and NSA contractors don't get to decide what you think you need to know.

I thought the Nuremburg trials put an end to the " I vas chust following orders" defense when a government entity was breaking the law or violating peoples human rights.

It depends, Cuda. How many Jews were Snowden and Manning asked to kill?

Whatever you think of Snowden or the domestic 'spying' I find the faux surprise and outrage of all these Congressmen and Senators to be pretty hilarious, if not unexpected. Are any of these guys claiming that they actually didn't know about it before?

And to ignore a crime is the same as participating in it. Everything Hitler did in Germany up to the war was technically legal.

So is communicating national defense information to an unauthorized source and aiding the enemy. Or hadn't you heard?

Actually, it wasn't, but since you're still struggling to come to terms with Germany's historical need to develop new energy resources, it comes as no surprise that you might've missed this li'l nugget as well.

Attaboy, Screwey! Best post in months!
Thoughtfully considered... Well reasoned... And your use of monosyllabic words is close to poetic and should inspire the simplest of minds. Keep up the fine work, son!

This.
Last I checked, the Legislative and Executive branches of our fine Republic both signed off on warrantless surveillance after 9-11, and the Judiciary branch upheld it as legal. Now, we have another administration shored by their battery of legal-eagles that has determined that they could broaden the scope of this defilement of our personal freedoms and it's perfectly legal - because it's all being done in the name of National Security. Gee, who saw
this coming? And why is anybody surprised?

That's a fatalistic attitude. Where does the issue with Snowden lie then? The fact that he violated whatever waivers he signed? Or pointing out the obvious?

well, this snowden fellow is a high school & community college drop-out, which is why i'm rather surprised at the KC delegation's hostility toward him

It isn't something that suits itself to partisan sniping, so everyone's completely baffled. Officialdom for the sake of itself is a decent refuge.

Whether you view Manning or Snowden as traitorous or heroic (on the surface they exhibit characteristics of both elements), depends on how you define a whistle-blower.
In context, a quote from a very famous old, dead guy might be considered on this issue...
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety."

Both Snowden and Bradley Manning would be embraced as a hero by Ben Franklin.
And what are the so-called threats to national security caused by Snowden or Manning's revelations?

Well, Snowden dropped another bomb, revealing to the Guardian the detailed and rampant spying by the British government upon the visiting delegates of the G 20 summit in 2009. Well, this is actually getting interesting. At least now we know why the whored out pundits and pols are jumping on Snowden from the top of the turnbuckle. And as for Snowden's assertion that the U.S. has been routinely spying on China--and that he's prepared to give them the evidence, well this might just might nudge Cheney over the edge.
Listen, you toddling old fools, 9/11 (the New Pearl Harbor) was an inside job. Wake the fuck up.
