That list blows. Try living in the U & L.
No professional football. The Ducks are Ok...
Portland TrailBlazers owned by Comb Over Allen...Do not really care for basketball.
WHL hockey...minor league.
No professional baseball other than short season A ball. They let AAA Beavers get way.
We got Ben Crane on the tour, and Peter on the Senior side.
That is it.

At least you don't have franchise owners looting the local tax base with stadium "upgrades".

Because of the criteria used, did you read your own link?
To summarize:
If you’ve seen this list in recent years, you know that misery as defined by sheer futility – losing records, long championship droughts – isn’t what we’re going for. This is about misery in the heartbreak sense – The closer you come and miss, the more misery points you score.
Not that I necessarily agree with that misery quotient. I'd rather have been close but no cigar than to have never been close at all. Losing in the playoffs is much preferred to having never even
made the playoffs as far as I'm concerned.
Still, a very good article and if you click thru the cities, when you get to KC, you see one of the most amazing hoops players ever.
Nate "Tiny" Archibald. Loved watching that guy play.

Whatever you urban dwelling maggot. Around here, you have to drive 40 miles to get to anything basically. Sports city/ sports state/ sports metro area. You drive 180 miles to see pro football, baseball.

I literally lived within walking distance of the San Diego Sports Arena and a 10 minute drive to the old Jack Murphy Stadium off I-8 and the 163. Nobody cares because there are better options for all to waste their time and money... like the beach.

Yep...It's ugly as hell up here & rains buckets every single day. So don't move up here.
The Seachickens might change our position on that list if the critics are to be believed & the team stays healthy.

San Diego has like 11 soccer titles and 7 minor league hockey titles.
Super Bowls and World Series are SO over-rated.

And here I could have sworn I paid $105. But maybe I'm remembering wrong because it's been so long -- all of 2 days ago. $86 for the tags, $19 for the smog test (in which they test absolutely nothing, usually just press the "bypass" button on the machine and take your money ASAP).
I believe it's $19 more if the address is in Multnomah County (Portland), and $19 less if the address is outside the DEQ smog zone (Portland metro, Medford), since you don't have to test.
The $25 thing went away a long time ago.

I don't think you can say 'Cracker' anymore.
Please report to Papa WIlle for sensitivity training. You'll be required to take a leave of absence from the board during this trying time

Are the San Diego Gulls still in existence? I actually used to walk to the Sports Arena and watch them play.

Yep. They're currently in the WSHL.

Oddly enough, frequently visiting the Sports Arena gave me the idea to come up with the monikor "zztop" when trying to figure out a name for Smackchat. I saw those 3 guys put on one of the greatest and loudest shows ever at the Sports Arena.
We used to go to Madre games at the Murph/Qualcomm when a decent visiting team like the Braves were in town. We would get a military discount and show up blasted (shocker to Screwey) in the 2nd inning and leave by the 7th after checking out the girls in bikini tops during day games. Maybe the issue with attendance might partially be related to the bottle neck entrance to the parking lot. Not sure if you've been to Chargers or Madre games, but parking was always an issue.
I haven't been to PetCo as I haven't lived there since the early to mid 90's.

Yeah....we had season tix to the Chargers for years. Never left later than 10am for a 1pm game. Just a nightmare trying to get in if you're not there early.
Petco's got different issues. Gotta deal with the downtown traffic and parking. I usually just take the trolley to the Padres games these days.

On top of the registration fees in CA the traffic fines have absolutely blown up. Back when I was teaching traffic school in the 90's a first conviction for speeding for simply going 10-15 over would get you a $104-136 fine. I'm hearing now that's now going to dent your wallet $400-500. I'm definitely watching my speedometer while I'm down here in SD.

Just finished my on-line traffic school for going 70 in a 55 zone. The fine was about $250 and doing the traffic school was about another $250.
I'm just grateful for the chance to take that wonderfully informative course.

Access to Petco is a dream compared to the Murph. In the rare event that we go to a game we just drive all the way to the Imperial Ave. exit off the 5 and basically drive straight to the parking structure by the trolley station. Never a problem getting out of there either.

The case for Buffalo (rather extensive and strong):
No major league championships of any sort, unless one counts the AFL (and I don't).
Bills: Four straight Super Bowl losses, a seemingly endless period of futility prior to that, longest current playoff drought in NFL (last reached playoffs in 1999).
Sabres: Two Stanley Cup finals appearances in history, zero Stanley Cups.
NBA: Lost Buffalo Braves -- now the Los Angeles Clippers (another epicly futile franchise)
MLB: Passed over for 1990's expansion in favor of virgin territory (3 MLB franchises -- Blue Jays, Indians and Pirates -- are located within 200 miles of Buffalo) despite a state-of-the-art minor league ballpark capable of being upgraded to MLB seating capacity.

want an mls team? you guys are welcome to have Chivas, USA
Forgot about LA having two MLS franchises.
Actually, the Rochester Rhinos have had a lot of success in the USPSL (I think that's what they call it now -- I remember it better as the A-League). One level down from MLS.
Since we're mentioning second-tier pro leagues, I'm somewhat surprised that Buffalo has no MLL team, although the Rochester Rattlers may have territorial rights including Buffalo.
