Sorry for starting another weather thread but it's 97 fucking degrees outside with 40% chance of thunderstorms, and a flash flood warning in effect.

No rain yet, though. That will probably stay over the mountains. If it actually rains here I'll eat my...uh...dinner.

It always used to amaze me when we lived outside of Boston to watch the news and hear about how people died in a "heat" wave. The heat wave they would be speaking of would be something in the mid 90s. WTF?

Mix in a fan or a widow unit. A fan can be had for under $20 and window units can be had for less than a $100.

Yeah, that would be easy to afford, along with the power to run them (especially the a/c).

Sincerely,
elderly on fixed incomes

WhatYouTalkinAboutDiego??

Actually down here, my total energy bill (all electric with FPL- Florida Power & Light) is less per month than back in CNY when I had to heat (with natural gas) a two story wood frame house all winter, plus whatever electricity I used. Water, I don't want to talk about.

You have to forgive Left Seater, Diego, he's an arch-conservative. Therefore he think everyone is white, male and rich, remember?

You ever went to help any of these people, maybe buy them an air conditioner and install it for them ?? or do you just post about it on the internet ?

I always loved it when some tard would roll out that excuse. If theses elderly on fixed incomes couldn't afford a $20 fan and the addition $5 per month to run it, then how did they do anything? Somehow they could pay rent or taxes, buy food, pay all their household bills etc, but the fan purchase would push them into eviction. :meds:

And as Wolfe pointed out if they couldn't afford the fan or even a window a/c unit there is no way they could pay to heat their home in winter. The heat was necessary for 5 months a year while the a/c was necessary for 3 weeks. In a really cold winter the additional heating costs could easily equal 5 years of A/C use.
