Not quite sure what to expect from this game, but I thought it was interesting that the line moved from 7.5 down to 4.5. Good value on MSU getting 7.5 if you locked in on that one early.
ND at home with the experienced QB, I have to think they have the edge. MSU's offense was putrid through the first two games, but made a QB change and scored 55 against Youngstown St. Yeah, I know it's Youngstown, but I actually think you can read into that performance a little bit because prior to that, they couldn't even score against some of the worst teams in D1. Out is the dead weight that is Andrew Maxwell, and in is Connor Cook who can make plays with his arm and legs. Something this O has desperately needed. MSU D will keep them in every game, and I expect them to handle ND's offense. That said, ND is probably a little more balanced.
Heart says MSU 20-16. Head says ND 23-20.
And Michigan AD Dave Brandon will tap into the Stephen Ross fund to write stuff into the South Bend sky.

I'm not taking State's outburst last week as a sign that they've figured it out offensively...they'll still win games with their defense. I love their secondary.

Re: MSU @ ND
One of the most frustrating games I've ever seen. One thing is clear to me at this point. The problems on offense are 75% coaching, 25% talent. MSU was mauling ND's NFL d-line, but of course they go away from the run, just like last year. Everything's going good on the ground then all the sudden the staff out-thinks themselves and runs a trick pass play with a WR who throws a pick. Inexcusable. A competent OC could get 23 ppg with this roster, which is all it would take for MSU to win 10 games.
I'm convinced Kelly is a diabolical genius. He knew he couldn't run between the tackles against MSU. He knew he couldn't dink & dunk them to death. So what does he do? Arm punts it on damn near every down in hopes of a miracle catch or a PI call. And he got enough of both. Just enough to get the W, which everyone knew wouldn't require much.
The o-line and RBs are good enough to gash people. Time to go back to power I football and just pound the rock with two TE sets. Churn out yards, run some clock, and mix in a play-action pass here and there. I don't get why it has to be so complicated.

Feel sorry for you here Mgo, but we Buckeye fans had to put up with Jim Bollman's bumbling offenses for a decade. Not sure why Dantonio dug up the old fossil other than the old family & friends mentality. As long as the Walrus is around, get used to mediocre offenses, no matter how good your talent pool is. :?MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:A competent OC could get 23 ppg with this roster, which is all it would take for MSU to win 10 games.

Bowlmann doesn't call the plays...but just having him near an offense is train wreck enough

Bollman was brought in to teach technique and fundamentals to the TEs and OL. The OL is looking like the lone bright spot on offense. Great hire so far. He's made an instant impact on those guys.
Dave Warner calls the plays and is basically the OC. He's clueless.
