I'm happy for CNY good guy Jason Grilli. Who says hard work doesn't pay off? Would love to see a Pirates/Rays WS, but I know that's not likely.

This one is going right up the butt of the Pirates. That will be some foul ball.

Go Cards!

Damn Smackie, why all the hate for the Red Birds? I get it for the KC fans, but where's the animosity coming from as a Dodger guy? St. Louis is a class organization and the fans of that city are known for their knowledge and passion for the team and game, and generally considered the best fans in all of baseball. I'm not going as far as saying they are the greatest team ever, but they have been consistent winners and champions and are as good as any team in the league.

Now if you had said fuck the Crankees...

The Dodgers & Tardinals have a history dating back to nearly the beginning of baseball, and it's about as close as a series can get, with each team winning about half of the 2,200 games they've played against each other. But the Birds are dominant on the WS scorecard, having won 11 to LA's 6, and they knocked LA out of the playoffs in '85 & 2004.

So fuck 'em.

Maybe people have animosity towards the Tards and their fans because they're arrogant fucking douchebags who do things like anoint themselves "best fans"?

Hey Dins, I didn't say that, I'm just repeating something heard on nearly every sports broadcast I have ever watched or listened to. Every team has it's great fans and it's douchebag ones. You gonna sit there and tell me Duck fans haven't got their own share of arrogance? Goes with the sports territory. So sir, with all due respect and good will to you my internet friend, fuque off.

Exactly. Tardinal fans are absolutely the most arrogant, condescending fans ever, at least the ones I've come across. Plenty of St. Loser transplants here in KC and you can't/don't even want to strike up a conversation with them unless it's to rub 1985 in their snotty faces.

I dunno' though... Jayhawk hoops bitches are just as insufferable. I have to call it a toss-up for whom I despise more.

As for the MLB playoffs, I don't have a dog in this hunt but reckon I'll go with the A's. They just seem like a classy blue collar team without many players I can't stand.

9 to 1, 88. How did that taste?

Now of course, one game does not make a series, by any means...however, one game can dictate a series.

And Wags, arrogance in fans runs through every single team in sports. And rivalry breeds dislike. Here in AZ, you are either a Sun Devil fan or a Wildcat fan. Those teams and their followers hate each other. So I get the Royal/Cardinal hate, or Dodger/Cardinal hate.

I don't hate, I just root for or against.

I have personally never run into a Cardinal fan who was arrogant about their team. I've heard from Yankee fans, Dodger and Giant fans and a few others who just dripped arrogance. This isn't to say that there aren't Cardinal nuts out there who aren't obnoxious assholes, there are. But as for me, I'm just passionate about the team, but whether they win or lose, so be it. It's just a sport, a simple game in the big picture o' life. It's all about getting behind something that makes you feel like a part of a winning group, a community of spirit and sportsmanship. In the long run, it ultimately means nothing.

So chill out on the seriousness and the hatred. Enjoy the game for what it is. A game.

And again, GO CARDS!

Horseshit. Those spoon-fed, arrogant assholes are no better than anybody else, because they have absolutely no concept what it's like to suffer through decades of losing seasons. String together a year-or-three of 100 loss seasons, and I can PROMISE you that Busch Stadium would look a helluva lot like the Jake has this past decade. The New Madrid fault can't open up fast enough to swallow that god-forsaken shithole. Fuck St. Loser.

Jay, I didn't use the term "hate". I don't hate anyone.

No, what I said was that I "despise" Cardinal fans... but of course I haven't met all that many. But I've met enough that in general it's safe to say they are a despicable lot of front running, band wagoning gravy trainers.

Whenever I see one around here wearing that gear I'm like, "get the fuck back to your side of the state, asshole".

Same with Jaypuke fan, 'cept it's "get the fuck out of my state, shithead".

Hope that helps.

I get you Wags, that's cool. Although Truman's hate seems more based on the folks he has met and where he resides. I get that too, but bleeding that over to a baseball team seems a little odd. Oh well, to each their own I guess.

As to your reply 88...
