Born and raised in Hartford which is pretty much entirely populated with welfare recipients these days.
50 years ago Hartford was one of the wealthiest cities for its size in the country. The wealth is still here, but it's all moved 10-20 miles out into the rich suburbs. The state continues to flood money into various boondoggles downtown thinking they can revitalize the place. In actuality they just manage to drain the rest of the state which will eventually lead to the rich burbs being not so rich as well. Hopefully this collapse will hold off for another 5 years or so when CB is done with school and I can get the fukk out.
BTW, I think Hartford got ripped off by the Russian judge. I have driven through Springfield a number of times and IMO, it is slightly less shitty than Hartford. It appears to have some sort of middle class still. Hartford has none. It is 99% poor with about 6 rich dudes in the west end.

Seems strange that with all the problems CA is having, half of the top 10 cities in which to live with populations between 100K & 10M are in the state, and 28 of the top 100 are, according to that source. If you reduce the minimum population to zero, TX pwns, with 8 of the top 10 and most of the rest of that list.

The fact they put Reno at #27 renders this op-ed piece laughable. The Biggest Little Shithole is not a nice place.

Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Phoenix score higher on weather than San Diego?
I guess that's based on highest summer heat index.
