I grudgingly have to concede Ohio St in the top 5 based on their pedigree, coaching, & performance the past 2 yrs...but I'll be damned if Sparty gets in with that hysterically ridiculous schedule of THEIRS....and the loss to ND....

Pretty sure there's 123 teams this season -- please update your rankings accordingly. TIA.
Actually, Kal might be able to beat the dregs of the midmajors, or could have earlier in the season -- they've given up. Must not like Coach Lesbians, and want him gone next year. The saga would be even more funny if they weren't dragging down my team's division. On the other side of the coin, Colorado sucks big, but they still bring their scrappy selves for every play.
I'll go...
1. Bama. Even when they're not sharp, they grind.
2. FSU. Reluctantly, since they still haven't played anyone (who wasn't grossly overrated, anyway).
3. Not sure. Coin flip bewteen tOSU and Baylor. I guess I'll go with Baylor, since they've played at least a couple of almost-decent teams.
4. Interchangeable with 3
5. Oregon - the best of the New Meatgrinder
6. Auburn. Seems like smoke and mirrors, but winning.
Big drop after these teams.
Not sure where to rank Fresno State. They don't have the athletes the bigboys have, but they have a QB who could shred any defense on any given Saturday, so I figured I'd give them a little love here.
And after a shakey start, USC is looking like a team worthy of calling themselves the Trojans. I like their chances against just about anybody right now. If they make the CCG, the Ducks will have their hands full.

You fell for it.

I can honestly say there are probably 5 teams that would be undefeated with Mich St's schedule in the Pac..and probably more than a few from other conferences also.
SOS apparently means very little to so many.

9-1 (6-0) with the top ranked defense and an ever improving offense is top 10 material.
You Pac guys get really worked up over T1B college football rankings. Calm down, I'm pretty sure they're not a part of the BCS formula.

Breathe into a paper bag. I just reserve the right to opine about said opinions...
If scheduling cupcakes rewards you with a BCS bowl, eventually even the most resistent AD's will succumb to the business side of things...and, conferences with more than 1 or 2 decent teams will always get screwed. Just the facts.

Not true. I've spoken glowingly about Stanford over the years. You could even say they're my second favorite team, just on the basis of the enjoyment I get from watching them play. Before, teams like Oregon were unique. Now, teams like Stanford are unique. But admiration aside, I can't put a team with two losses to unranked teams in the top 10. Granted, USC is now ranked since they beat them.

I can't defend their schedule too much. But they are beating everybody they play by double digits, home or away. I would also humbly submit they pass the eye test. I'm not saying MSU is world beaters by any means, but I think top 10 is reasonable at this point. A case can be made for others over them as well, and I won't deny a certain level of homerism here. We're all guilty of it.
If they beat OSU, will you say they deserve to be in the top 10? Or will the new narrative become OSU sucks and was overrated?

Solid point. If a defense can keep juggernauts like Youngstown State in check, they must be the shit.
I have no problems with Sparty being ranked highly, but play somebody for chrissake.
And just some food for thought (since thinking rationally seems to be tough for you, what with your seeting hatred for the PAC) -- your "top-ranked offense" gave up more points to Nebraska than UCLA did.
Why aren't UCF and Fresno State in the top ten? "Weak opponents," right? But the same argument/criterion doesn't apply to MSU?

I think if you're ranked #1 or #122 in something, that's pretty damn telling. Regardless of SOS.

As an aside, I watched a couple of really good games yesterday.
Saw the 4th quarter of Auby/UGA.
Stanford/USC was a gritty, hard fought affair. The look of the team following Leinert onto the firld for Homecoming, and the uncharacteristic energy from the SC fans didn't bode well for Furd. That was going to be a tough road for any team that stepped into the Mausoleum that night.
And any time Oregon wins, it warms my cockles. Utah is scrappy as all get-out, and brought what they had. Stanford going to high elevation and deciding they were a air-it-up team was a severe strategic error.

Weak sauce. In a down year, the B1G is still better than the MWC and AAC.
I do like UCF more than Fresno.

Stanford losing to both SUC & Utah on the road casts doubt on their ability to relocate. SUC is scary right now & if we're fortunate enough to get by ASU, SUC will come out like Ogre-one's job depends on it. Have to say Kessler is playing better QB than Hundley right now.

Maybe the MWC. There's about 3 teams in the AAC that would be wreaking havoc in the B1G this season.
I think top to bottom, UCF is deeper than Fresno (although the MWC Network, or whatever it was called, isn't on my cable anymore), I won't underestimate a bigtime QB's ability to dominate a game (like he has every game this year, pretty much).
And if Sparty beats tOSU (no reason why they shouldn't get to the CCG, but we'll go ahead and play out the schedules, as always), I doubt I'd have them lower than 5 or 6... and you and I will shit-talk all the way to New Year's Day. How cool would that be? We'd have a score to settle 9 months later (if you've delivered the baby we impregnate you with by that point).

Louisville, UCF, and Houston would all be at least .500 in the B1G.
And every team loses players every year. Usually their best ones, since they're the most experienced ones. Fortunately for Oregon, lots of the key positions have a good mix of classes, although the secondary might be an issue - although in recent years, "next man in" has worked well there.
But... Mariota is probably gone. I assume DAT comes back, since he's a midget (and should switch to DB if he wants a chance at the pros).

BTW -- How has no one at ntOSU not thought to test Mannion foir colorblindness? Dude is #1 in passing at damn-near 400 a game, but seems unable to differentiate the different color uniforms that are on the field around him. His windup that makes Tebow look like a gunslinger results in beautiful passes... sometimes on the numbers of the other team.

I forgot Louisville was in the AAC. Yeah, think them and UCF would hold their own in the B1G. But I wouldn't say going "at least .500" is exactly "wreaking havoc." Houston? I'm not buying their stock, sorry.

Does every team lose half their defensive starters AND their defensive coordinator in the same season? Because that's likely to happen. But I'm not going to start bitching about 2014 yet. There's still some ball to be played this year.
