Why would you feel sad? Isn't everything her fault, as told to us by you Faux News viewers?

She calls out to the man on the street
"Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me?"
He walks on, doesn't look back
He pretends he can't hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there
Oh
Think twice
'Cause it's another day for you and me in paradise
Oh
Think twice
'Cause it's another day for you
You and me in paradise..

88, in all sincerity, my best wishes to your mom and for her recovery. My 84 y.o. mom recently broke her ankle and I fear her mobility will suffer greatly from this point forward, so I can empathize. As for the homeless woman, while you may not affect her long term situation, a call to the police about her welfare and/or a gift card for some items that she wants or needs is a wonderful gesture.

Nice Christian thoughts 88. Rack you. I know you don't think of it that way, but that's the type of caring that Jesus himself talked about a couple of millennia ago, not taxing people, funneling money through a bureaucracy, and having some of it get to the poor.
It's sad that some people end up that way. You wonder where their family is. Then again we have a well off millionaire POTUS with relatives that live in a hut.

I think when I hit 70, I will move to a ranch style house, no basement. Fukk stairs. They hate old people.
A few months back my best friend's 83 year old pop took a dive down the stairs of his condo. He laid at the bottom of the stairs paralyzed with a broken neck for about 8 hours before someone found him. He spent a few weeks in the hospital while they assessed his condition. The prognosis was he would be a quadraplegic (pray for him) for the rest of his days and on a respirator. He said fukk that and told them to shut it down. I will miss him. He really was a good dude. Never saw him without a smile, 'cept for when his son Jay was doing some stupid shit which he was rather prone to in his early years.

No stairs here. No cellar. Everything is on a concrete slab when you live on a giant sand bar. These days I don't even do ladders. My last fall was tripping over a lawn sprinkler head when I was edging along one of the gardens.

As for the homeless woman, that is yet another scenario that makes me question the existence of an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent god.

Sounds just like my best friends pop. Only he died of congestive heart failure, which was kind of odd since we all expected him to die of the stage 4 lung cancer he had. Always a kidder to the end, his last words were, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." Seriously.

Sure, I'll settle in for that 17 hour Stephen Drool-cup festival one of these first months, Jsc.
Now in the Christmas spirit, I'll return the favor and offer you (or anyone) a five star bit of entertainment.
Not 17 hours long, but a lot of great stuff packed into a very short (few minutes) read.

Of course it is a matter of faith.
The Bible overwhelmingly declares that.
I've surely never tried to prove God to you -- and have never sold that such proof (as we have defined it) exists.
It's clear that God has done things the way He has done so that people are required to demonstrate their faith.
Now I will just relay personal testimony to you that when I did demonstrate that faith, He showed Himself -- and so it continues to this very day.
But now you've moved the goal post from evidence to proof.
You are keenly aware of the difference between the two, and I would assert that if a person's take is that there is no evidence of the existence of God (of the Bile), they have not either not even begun to look objectively or they are in deep denial.
Regarding the passage I cited for you (and others) to view -- Romans 1:18-32, that is God's response to your original statement in the thread about questioning His existence.

No, Christ resurrected and proved Himself.
That is why it's correct.
The fulfillment of prophecy (shown within the Bible) is stunning and overwhelming, also.
But I didn't post that passage for the purpose of proving God to you, Jsc.
As I said, I believe God, and that passage I posted is His reply to your first statement in the thread.

Jsc810 wrote:Why do you need faith?
I don't need faith, I choose to have it based on evidence from my own life experience, both good and bad. I didn't just wake up one day and decide that I'm going to naively have faith. But I decided to seek and hope to find. Over time, it was a gift bestowed upon me by a power greater than myself that I choose to call God.
I don't come in here (or anywhere) trying to convert or convince others of the faith I so dearly hold. That's up to each his or her own desire, to seek and find (or not), to use what you can, leave the rest. I don't come in here quoting Bible chapter and verse. Do your own fucking research, or don't. I don't care what you believe or don't believe.
But what is it with the atheist ilk that compels them to ridicule those who have faith? It's like I said about the Theology forum some time ago... where atheists go to prove that God doesn't exist.

In fact, if you're ever so inclined, you can read the whole debate between William Lane Craig and Bart D. Ehrman.

Here is how I know God is a sham.
Exhibit A) Bob: Bob is a terrible man. He has lived a life of reprehensible behavior without remorse. Rape, murder, theft, you name it. Bob lives his life out in prison, and as the time of his sentenced death approaches, Bob asks God for forgiveness of his sins and accepts Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior. Bob goes to Heaven.
Exhibit B) Fred: Fred is a kind man and a genuinely good human being. He's lived a life of philanthropy and general do-goodery. He has always cared more for others than himself and has done much for the less fortunate. But Fred is skeptical of the existence of God and does not accept Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior. Fred goes to Hell.
No so-called benevolent God would allow these scenarios to occur. I mean, what kind of sick, demented, insecure asshole casts a good man into an eternal pit of fire because he didn't worship you? Have you ever stopped to think for a second how fucked up that is? And you're on board with this? Then you're just as sick, imo.
Each and every one of you twisted fucks should be locked in an insane asylum.
P.S. Merry Christmas.

Is it that God is a sham or organized religion that has historically pushed those notions of salvation that is a sham?

Also, why can't there be varying degrees of Hell? For the Hitlers and the Gacys, go ahead and throw them into the furnace. But for mere non-believers, maybe force 'em to read a lifetime of Derron posts, or stick them in front of a television with every Lions game running on a loop from the Wayne Fontes era to current.

If god is omnipotent and allows the clusterfuck that is this world, then he is evil. If God is not omnipotent, then he is not a god. Either way, if he exists, he is unworthy of worship.

Nah, God is still omnipotent, (that is, if he/she/it exists) the problem is that whole "free will" thingie. The clusterfuck is a result of it. Good and evil are just the guest players. The rest is a stage for us to act out this play of life, for better or worse. It's all about choices and repercussions. Karma and shit.
The confusion about God that most people don't get is that "WE" are all god. God is us. So, with that said, do "we" even exist? Are we all just some micro universe in the fingernail of some other giant being?
Who wants to smoke some pot?

It merely reinforced in me that 99.9% of people who claim they are Christians and believe The Word have no fucking clue what The Word is. It is a garbled, jumbled mess of violent incoherency. But I digress.
Well said and spot on 88. Most Christians are completely clueless when it comes to the meaning of the Word and what it represents, or even what it is. Taking the Bible word for word and page by page as indisputable and literal fact is the equivalent of putting on your favorite sheep costume and letting Mace have his way with you. Having faith is all well and good, but putting your all into a collection of disparate fairy tales, written and edited and censored by hundreds of various religious/political factions over the centuries, until it's nothing but regurgitated pablum, is nonsense.
This might be an oversimplification, but there is a pop culture analogy that is applicable here.
"This is your last chance. After this there is no turning back. You take the blue pill(The Bible=blind faith): the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill(hard and cold reality=uncomfortable truth): you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."
So what will it be...red or blue?
