Been working on making this happen for a while now. The bad news...Luther is done. He isn't returning. All is fine for Portland's finest and he still lurks around the board from time to time, checking in and reading now and then, but Brother Luther's days of posting are history. I know you should never say never...but this retirement is going to stick. However, only Luther knows for sure. Dude was and is a great story teller. One can only hope he gets bored enough to give it one last shot.

ML might be back at some point, but that is one busy cat...errrr, coyote. Don't pencil in an appearance any time soon. Now then, where the hell is Mace?

ML seemed distracted when he did post here briefly and seemed to be really serious. I gave him some crap and he wasn't into it. I don't blame him one way or another. Last I remember Luther was taking things waaaay too seriously here before he left.

I didn't know Mace stopped posting here. Well it's not baseball season yet so who knows?

It's been quite a few years now since Luther was here -- perhaps 5 or 6?
Not sure.

During that time, I suspected he lurked, and occasionally someone from the board would post, lamenting Luther's absence.
I sometimes chimed in as well, saying I missed Luther, always enjoyed his posts, thought he was a skilled wytch, was a delightful storyteller, etc.

Many of us posted such things -- because Luther was a board asset.
And I'm sure he read a lot of those flowery words from us.

Anyway, ML came in in September of last year and started a thread.
And naturally, Luther's name came up.

Scott said, BTW - Luth and I traded a few PMs. I tried to "Negotiate" him back -doesn't appear to have worked.


So I decided to take a different tact with Luther -- hoping perhaps I could goad him into replying to me.

Well, I won't violate board rules and post his PM to me.

He said he thought he and I were always "good," but knew now (or then) that he was wrong about that -- because I posted about how I wanted him to stay away, didn't want to see him falling down in the outfield (haha), etc.

He no longer luvs me and said GOODBYE to me.


So I replied to him -- even thought he said GOODBYE to me.
I told him I was just funnin' around (as we do here regularly) and actually wished he'd come back IN.

But he didn't answer me.


He's a proud smack board soldier.

I vow to visit his final PM to me once a year -- memorial day.
