Jan Ski PET

As in year's past the wife and I spend a decent amount of time in the winter skiing. It is something we both enjoy and we also like the cold weather. However, this year we have been very cold in SA and have now had three ice storms. Sad that we have "weathered" them better than ATL who gets much more of this weather than we do.

Our first trip was over New Year's to Taos NM and Wolf Creek, CO. We flew into Santa Fe, NM and had to change planes at DFW. American Eagle must have more orange cones than any other airline. At least 14 are visible in this photo.

Mrs Seater getting ready to attack the bumps. Taos is steep and the bumps are everywhere.

Late lunch at the Bavarian. Beer and homemade pretzels are a decent ski lunch.

The next trip was to Crested Butte, CO. Mrs Seater had a speaking engagement at Western State in Gunnison Colorado. Since Crested Butte was just 30 minutes away I tagged along. Again we had to connect in DFW but were able to fly right to Gunnison. Afternoon traffic at DFW.

It snowed damn near non-stop for the four days we skied Crested Butte.

Overnight snow on the rental.

Our most recent trip was to Beaver Creek also in Colorado. We left SA last Friday as the city was pretty much shut down for the day due to the ice. We let Samir drive us to the airport in his cab instead of driving ourselves. View of the sky as temps held steady in the 20s.

Saturday night we drove over to Breckenridge to meet friends who were there for dinner. We knew them when we lived in Philly and don't get to see them often so what is an hour drive? Prior to dinner we walked around the international snow carving competition. Some were better than others, some sucked. The teams worked on these for 5 days.

We were supposed to fly home Tuesday, but since the ice had returned and moved to Houston where most flights were canceled we moved our flight to Wed and got to ski in about 6 inches of powder Tuesday morning. Mrs Seater ready to make tracks in Rose Bowl.

The Seaters enjoying the day.

The hotel had music outside in the afternoon on the patio. One day they also had this crappy bubbly wine. I didn't have the camera the day they were handing out free glasses, plus it was dudes not ladies handing them out. Weird.

I also took a photo of the house that President Ford owned. He was one of the original investors in Beaver Creek and his name is on a ton of things around the area. If I find it I will post it later.

I will also upload two of the videos I took to youtube so you donkeys can see them.

Is that a Fusion?
If so, which model?
How did you like it?

Everyone who has skied has dropped a few f-bombs, no?

And we have all had our run-ins with a-hole snowboarders, young or old.

Reminds me of a few of these gems:

What is the difference between a vacuum cleaner and a snowboarder? The way you attach the dirtbag.

What is the difference between a picnic table and a snowboarder? A picnic table can support a family.

Our backyard.

By the way, there's a gorgeous young lady in those woods.

Not sure why you decided to hijack a Lefty PET with this piece of shit, but hey...whatever...I'm sure you have your reasons...

Here is the second video. This is from a blue run in Taos. Notice the lack of other skiers both on the run and on the lift. Huge reason why we continue to ski there year after year.

Looks like the place Fixer confessed to dumping the body.

Getting your pencil sharpened at that age will have that effect.

All fancy ski resorts have the outdoor hot tubs. I trust there will be a video of mrs seater in one, posted by the time I get home and have youtube access.

LS,
Did you pay the $100 family rate, or are you not part of the Ritz family?

I knew one of you would post something along those lines. That is why I gave you the name of the run and the ski area so you could look it up. Plus a blue at Taos is more like a black at most ski areas. Especially when compared to those near you like Hood.

Moving Sale wrote:LS,

I don't have access to friends and family rates at the Ritz. I do sometimes use Marriott points for stays at the Ritz. This last stay was booked months ago though so the rate was quite reasonable.

How does dropping a pic of your bog in the middle of Seater's (somewhat) interesting PET qualify as "complimenting"?

At the very least, you could have started you're own thread that folks could ignore, upon seeing authorship.

That is a shame. I know it's hard to imagine being treated better than you are treated as a regular guest at the Ritz but when they see that star next to your name they ramp it up to 11. Hit me up next time you go and I'll see if I can get you hooked up.

That would be "beaut," like the beginning of "beauty."

I guess it's a Western thing. A mountain without a pointy top.
