guess I might as well start one because yes indeed, I have become that which I used to scorn. It was inevitable, I suppose, but the older I get, the less I like dealing with winter and all the associated misery thereof.

Everyone knew a heavy snow was coming, so much so that much of KC and surrounds just closed today. I mean, I stayed home from work and it hadn't even started snowing yet. What a puss, I says to myself, knowing hardier souls than I showed up for work this morning.

So, it started snowing heavy about 8 am or so. Not sure exactly what time because I stayed the fuck in bed until 9. I've gone out about every two hours or so since to clean off the porch, the sidewalk, the cars and driveway. Didn't want to wait until tomorrow morning and have to do it all at once. We may wind up with 12" and I'm pretty sure that would kill me.

It's not supposed to stop until after midnight so I'll probably go out a few more times so I can drag my sorry ass into work tomorrow before noon. Of course, anytime we get a heavy snow storm the arctic air rushes in right behind it to double team the anal assault.

Just fucking lovely.

Simply put Wags, snow has got to suck, especially when it keeps happening. Here in the desert it simply doesn't happen. On rare occasions you get a light dusting, but those times are very few and far between. While we get hammered by the heat for about five months, I'll take that over what you guys are experiencing right now.

Slow, steady, very light parade of flakes this morning. Almost tried to stick, but all evidence is gone now...

Might actually get enough to cover the ground this weekend. We just shut the city down until it melts in a few hours. But on a weekend, intraneighborhood snowball fights (mushy wet snow is quite a weapon) will rule the day.

A few drops of water actually fell out of the sky this morning on the way in to the office. Enough so I had to swipe the wipers probably two time.

Not much rain but better than nothing.

Days like this I really wish I had a snow blower. But the other 364 days a year, I am glad I don't have one cluttering up the garage, or the shed.

I've always considered people who live where it's snow-covered in winter to be cheating themselves out of life.

Wags, all of us are getting older. That said hopefully we are getting smarter as well. In that line of thinking, why park the cars outside? If you don't have a garage, sounds like it is time to invest in one or even a tough shed type structure. Also, about time to get a snow blower or tractor with a plow.

If none of that sounds acceptable, there aren't any HS kids looking to make a few bucks tomorrow morning at 6:00 am? Work smarter, not harder.

Still snowing like a bitch here, just seems to be going around in circles right over KC rather than moving on like a polite snow storm should.

We're supposed to get 1-3" tonight, might have to get out the new single-stage. Again. I think I've had the 2-stage thrower out once this year.

Getting reports from my kids back in CNY. My small one car garage back there had two modes. Summer for bicycles, patio stuff, and winter for the car. One Sunday I opened that garage door and saw no daylight, drifted right to the top. Took me an hour to clear a shovel wide path to the street so we could get out of the house. Of course, I do not miss it AT ALL.

A whopping 27 and sunny here... fuck that. I want my 50 and raining back.

Supposed to maybe snow this weekend. Weekend snow reduces the entertainment value of seeing commuters wiped out all over the freeway.

are you shitting me......the kids around here have no motivation whatsoever.....they could spend $300-$500 on a used snow blower and make a killing in my neighborhood alone.....no doubt they could pay for it in a month or so, but they've got no ambition......we have there two mexican kids that come around and I give them $20 to clean off the driveway (I've got a big driveway), but they're hit and miss....sometimes come around sometimes don't......I hate shoveling snow almost as bad as I hate the fuckwads that aren't used to driving in it and are either going way too slow (which causes impatience) or way too fast, which causes accidents, more often than not it's out of staters driving four wheel drive vehicles.....four wheel drive won't stop any faster on an icy road than a two wheel drive car, but they can't seem to get that through their heads......

That's just northeast of a town in Northern NY called Watertown. The base is called Fort Drum and they have winters that would make anybody from Missouri break down and cry.

Funny, I'm usually wearing shorts, at least outdoors in the daytime, until it gets down to 60 or so.

One thing I've noticed about most if not all of the cold weather transplants around here is that while we keep our t-stat in the winter set to 65 night 68 day they always seem to have theirs set at about 78 degrees. Unbearable.
