Is "mollify" a $3 word? I used that word in a simple conversation with my college grad boss the other day and he looked at me dumbfounded, asked me what the hell that meant. Quickly, what came to mind were synonyms like "placate" or "appease" and the light went on but mollify was the best word to describe the situation of dealing with an impatient vendor we have a supply contract with.

Honestly, I've never used a thesaurus in my life and only found out what one actually was when glossed "Thesaurus Wagon" at TNW.
