Saban STFU?
He can't help himself..It's a disease.
I wanna see him and Scuba Steve throw down in the octogon.
I bet Gameday would show for that..
Money on the Old Man.

So SS, how do you feel aout of the magical excuses Darth Saban has for the Sugar Bowl. If Bama can't get up for BCS bowl games because of their title game history then what motivation did OU have . . . OU is in the title game more frequently.

so, the world according to Nick there will be two play clocks. a 10 second snap clock, and the other play clock. sounds tenable. really?
he's reaching here. i don't like the 4 hour tv games with all the stoppages the spread type O's, herbstreit mindless blathering, and soulbreaking commercial breaks give us either. but injury is not the issue. foolishness.
if you want to take a serious look at injury in football, that could be done. and it ain't the playclock or "fastball" guys running pass plays.

No need for an additional clock. If the offense snaps the ball before the 40 second play clock shows 29, it would be a foul. The mechanics of this were discussed this spring and it would be very easy to officiate.
The idea itself, :?

It's been a while since this came up, but I seem to remember Helfrich saying something like "Oregon lost less offensive players to injury than Bama over the past several seasons. So much for that theory."

sure, yes. i was kind of over-stating for "effect". but in essence there are two timers going on each play. the first 11 to 29....and then to 40. seems foolish. i guess in the NBA you have a 24 sec shot clock but teams can't shoot in the first 8 or so.

Bama has had a chance to win the NC games they have been in and have cashed in

Oh and as far as cashing in. The Florida game was close in the fourth quarter and while Percy Harvin is a fucking stud he was #2 in the nation in total yards, the player with the most total yards of any player was an OU guy who didn't play, DeMarco Murray.
OU lost to LSU but claiming it was some beat down is total revisionist history based on other bowl performances. LSU had a big first half and OU dominated the 2nd. Kejuan Jones ate them up in the middle of the field. I'll never understand why Kevin Wilson suddenly called four pass plays inside the ten after driving 70+ yards exclusively up the gut . . . And even then it took all american receiver Mark Clayton dropping a TD from a Heisman winner playing with a busted wrist to not tie the game on the last drive.

what about the opposing defenses?
Sorry, my bad. That didn't even make sense.
He cited relevant stats.
