Thoughts and Photos on the NCAA San Antonio regional

So the wife comes home last week with tickets for the Friday morning session of the NCAA regional held here in SA. She says, "I assumed you would want to go." I inform her that she did assume correctly. After sitting in the corporate seats for the afternoon session I started working the phone a bit looking for tickets to the evening session. Turns out they were pretty easy to find given that two teams had just lost and some fans had therefore lost their appetite for basketball. We purchased two seats from ULL fans who were heading home and had tickets for all three sessions. Dude just wanted face value for them.
So for the Fri night session we sat two rows up from the floor behind the NCCU band. For Sunday's session we sat in the fourth row behind the ISU band. All in all a very good weekend. Two amazing games, one good game, and well some not so great.
The wife asked that I not take pictures from the company box so no photos from the Friday morning session. Couple of thoughts on the tourney as a whole.
Most surprising turnout:
Providence and Creighton fans. Both were represented in huge numbers.
Most disappointing turnout:
Husker fan. Piss poor showing for a fan base that is usually very good.
Best cheerleaders:
Baylor, not even close.
Worst talent:
Creighton and NCCU. One of the Creighton cheer leaders had to tip the scales at 250.
Most class:
ULL fans for cheering after they lost.
Least class:
Baylor coach Drew who left his starters in until about 1:30 was left in the game. Only after Creighton pulled their Srs did Drew decide his 30 point lead was safe. Even the Baylor fans were yelling at him to pull his starters.
Best game / Worst ending:
ISU scoring with 1.6 seconds left to advance after the 3 minute conference by the officials to decide that the game really was over.
Here are a few photos:
Court from the top of the lower bowl:

Action shot from ISU vs NCCU. 31 ended up breaking his foot later.

Sunday action shots:

A few cheerleader photos for those who care (Sorry the phone pics are what they are)

Craig Sager was also bumping around but he wouldn't turn around for a photo

Here is a video from the ISU vs NCCU game.
Here is an action shot of the NCCU band and "cheerleaders". I put that in quotes cause they never led the fans in any cheers. Notice the token white kid playing tuba. Also notice the UCLA fan way to into the tuba players. (For the record the 2nd tuba player from me is actually a female.) And if you listen really closely around the 1:18 mark you can hear Mrs. Seater comment on the dancing saying "that's inappropriate."
Finally here is the ISU reaction after the three minute officials conference. In the arena we had no idea what was up. It wasn't until later that we knew that the clock was late starting and the like. Horrible way for the game to wrap up, but a great game anyway.
