Yeah, here's a guy who spearheaded California anti-gun legislation and is now accused of importing RPGs and automatic weapons into the state from the Hong Kong tongs via Muslim extremists in the Philippines in exchange for campaign contributions. Take that, Second Amendment! Lol, an honest citizen may not own a Gen 4 Glock or a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds and it must be virtually locked into the gun well via a "bullet button," but this asshat is going to wholesale military weaponry to gangs and Islamofacists in the US. Niiiice.

Even more telling? Slate Mag avoids stating what party Yee belongs to, although there is no question which it is considering he is from San Francisco.

I guess he forgot to clear out those illegal campaign contributions and homo child porn when he left the closet. Funny how those kind of things tend to get forgotten and collect dust back there...

As to Yee, between him and all his Democratic buddies in California, so many have been indicted that I'd be surprised if they can muster up enough votes in chamber to utilize their supermajority and bypass Republicans. From Fabian Nunez, former Speaker of the Cal House, who engineered a plea deal to keep his son from being convicted of murder to Ron Calderon and his brother Tom who are charged with corruption, the adage of "absolute power corrupts absolutely" rarely has been shown to be so true to such an extent as in California politics dominated by the Democratic Party.

I believe that is true to a large extent, 88, but generally Republicans do not make a concerted effort to amend the Constitution because they don't like portions of it, ie the 2nd Amendment. The "living document" crap pisses me off to no end. Yes, it's a living document in that if you can jump through the difficult hoops set out in the rules laid out by our founding fathers, sure, change any portion of the Constitution you like. But until then, stop trying to redefine what constitutes what a militia is, what weapons the founding fathers envisioned for US citizens owning, etc etc ad nauseum. Democrats, realizing that there is no way they can impose their will on the populace at large, seek to do an end run by moving the goal posts using Clintonian semantics: "It depends on what the definition of 'is' is."

No doubt that Yee is a shitbag. Hope he goes away for at least a decade.

But the party that claims to be for less government while wanting it to regulate what goes on in people's bedrooms & their own bodies has no room to throw the "H" word around. Just say'in.

no shit.....our legislature is filled with a bunch of redneck fuckwits with pigshit stuck in their ears....our state ranks dead last in education and like 48th or 49th in annual income/per family...and what does our legislature do? pass ground breaking legislation that impacts no one, has no relevance to anything or anyone then pat themselves on the back for being so clever....one guy in particular (Chuck Winder) has proven that he hates women (he's the moron that stated "women often time cry rape so they can get a free abortions") and tried to railroad a piece of legislation that would ban marijuana for any reason any time anywhere in the state.....fortunately some activists got wind of it showed up at the senate and they tabled that legislation.....for christs sake, washington is like 200 miles away so anybody who wants reefer can simply drive up and pick it up there.....70% of the physicians in Idaho favor medical marijuana use, yet Winder believes he's the authority on this shit......he sits on the Transportation committee in the Senate, yet he acts as an adviser to an attorney that routinely sues the transportation department for millions of dollars....two years ago he kicked K-12 education to the curb, but now he says we need to be concerned about education?! of course, it is an election year....

politicians are fucking asswipes that quit caring about legislating for their constituents along time ago and now are just concerned with lining their own pockets.....

You mean since the beginning of the republic. Eldridge Gerry, Marbury v Madison, the imaginary scandals whipped up against Jefferson and Adams, Alien and Sedition Acts etc. That was some old school shit and was why George Washington was so concerned about partisanship.

Complete and total bullshit, Screwy? While there are always exceptions to the rule, generally Democrats, the Left, Progressives (as you like to call yourselves) are all about wholesale change, massive upheaval to traditional systems, and overthrowing the status quo. Obama is a prime example of this. "Fundamental transformation of America." "Redistribution of wealth." And on and on and on.
Republicans, on the other hand, are all about the status quo, and conservatives (of which I am one) specifically are all about incremental changes, honoring of traditions, and the slow and thoughtful approach to overhauling anything. DiS' contention that the Right wants to legislate what goes on behind closed doors is patently false, despite hysterical cries otherwise. As to what you do with your body, as long as it doesn't affect another, directly or indirectly, I suspect no one s going to bother you.

Ok, so what about abortion for example, you ask? I respond, what about exercising some self-control? Just because you feel the urge to open your legs or inseminate anything with a hole in it doesn't mean you should do it. And if you do, there is always prudent precautions available with just a modicum of forethought. And that about covers things in general: prudent, cautious approaches to life, where if you need to recklessly engage in something, it is done with a calculated eye on the risk it brings and recognising there will be repercussions for such behavior.

The Left fancies themselves as libertines, but the reality is they just don't want to pay the cost of their behavior, after all, it's so much easier to just to get a do-over by legislating food stamps, birth control, lottery tickets, drugs, and what-all.

Get off my lawn now.

Another example of the Left's jumping-in-with-both-feet-without-looking-at-what's-under-the-surface-of-the-water is climate change. The UN's latest report, due out soon, revises sharply down the impact of all the horrible things that were supposed to happen if we failed to act immediately in a fashion which would cripple our economy. Now? Well, let this WSJ article say it better than I ever could:

http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB1 ... hp_opinion

At its' core the worst part of the Left's thinking is that whatever needs to be done should be done RIGHT NOW and go all in politically, economically, institutionally, everything. They are the equivilent of the Vegas bettor who shows up at the tables and immediately puts his entire stake down and bets it all everytime. It's nonsensical. Yet we get the call to engage in unproven ideas-- like climate control --and do it in spades. Preferably yesterday.

Craziness. Especially when the evidence is mounting that the effects, such as they are, are negligable.
