We just got back to hotel room after being kicked out of A&S museum at closing time. Good time was had by all.
Most of the pics I have are of kid so not sure anyone really wants to see them. There is a pic of me and a life sized cardboard Gio Gonzalez that I am sure will make the rounds.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it works for everyone.
Funny how the lack of a PC screen and a few thousand miles of wire between your nose and somebody else's fist brings on a sudden case of manners.
The only ones here this does not apply to are probably sam and chip.

It'd be fun to report that a buncha crazy, alcohol-fueled trolls descended upon DC this weekend & left a trail of wreckage that'll keep clean-up crews on overtime for weeks. Or even that just one of the attendees did something so memorable that a new color would have to be used for shading T1B spreadsheet entries. I was gonna play the "they're all fags" card, but that would require too much effort, imagination, & embellishment. So I'll just give what I hope will be a straightforward & honest account of this weekend's festivities.
Friday evening around 7:30, mama & I met up w/ Mr. & Mrs. 88 at the Crystal City Sports Pub. Crystal City is a community in Arlington, VA that borders Alexandria & SW DC. Screwy joined us a little later (gotta 'splain the purse, dude), & the five of us spent the evening swapping stories & getting acquainted over tall beers & sports bar grub. Moving Sale & his 9-yr-old son got into town just as we were calling it a night, so we decided to hook up the following day.
Saturday morning, mama & I took the train into DC & met up w/ MS & his son at the WWII Memorial. We walked from WWII to the Lincoln Memorial, then to the Vietnam Memorial. Got a call from 88, who said he & the missus had just gotten off the Metro, so we met them at the Washington Monument. From there, we started walking toward Old Ebbitt's Grill, which was several blocks away, where we planned on enjoying lunch. But I called the restaurant while we were on the way & was told there was a 90-minute wait for a table, so we resorted to Plan B - District Taco. Good Mexican chow, not much seating capacity. Had to share a chair w/ mama initially while the 88s had to stand before seats became available. After lunch, mama & I returned home to take care of our dog before heading off to the ballgame that evening, while the 88s & MS contingent visited the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum & did other touristy crap I'll let them tell you about.
mama & I arrived at the ballpark first, about an hour before first pitch. MS & son got there next, followed shortly by Screwy & the 88s, sometime during the 1st inning. I'd bought the tickets directly from the stadium box office a couple weeks before game day, but for some reason, mine wouldn't scan when I tried to enter (mama's was fine). They took a photo of my ticket & let me in. Most of the rest of us also had problems with the tickets not scanning, but we all were granted entry nonetheless. We had a block of 8 seats in the center field bleachers beneath the scoreboard, which were fine since we bullshitted amongst each other more than watch the game, which the Braves won 6-2. We left after the 8th inning intending to find a local bar to finish the night in, but one was closed & the only open one around had a long line outside it, so we headed home.
Sunday morning, Lefty, the 88s, mama, and I had the brunch buffet at the sports bar. Mimosas & Bloody Marys disappeared, and we sat around & shot the breeze for a couple hours before saying our goodbyes, since they were all flying out that afternoon.
Oddly enough, I don't recall hearing "vapid," "fuckstick," or "black cock" during the whole weekend (although I wish I had a pic of the shirt MS was wearing Saturday - post it, MS).
There may be a few pix on the way. I don't have any, though.

It's a messenger bag, dicks.
It was great to meet Left Seater, 88, both who I have jostled with many, many times here, but who are both great dudes, and 88's wife. Moving Sale's son is a bright kid and it was nice to get to know him for the little bit we hung together. MS, did you ever get the chance to go to Ben's or Ray's or Pho 74?
Thanks to Smackie and Mamamustanger for putting it all together.

88 wrote:MS is a good dude.
Hadn't seen MS in >10 yrs, and he IS a little shorter these days, since he has a shaved dome rather than tinted tips. Of course, anyone can be on good behavior when only having to spend a few hours w/ folks, so any of us could come across as good peeps when in reality we're assholes. But MS is ok in my book. Seemed like a good dad (when he could locate his son), gets animated when telling stories, doesn't act like too much of a dick, & generally seems like a mensch, or at least as of much of one as a lawyer can be. His son was very well-mannered & pleasant to be around - a good kid who seemed to be enjoying the trip but would've enjoyed it more had he been able to see; he left his prescription specs in CA.
In the same category as MS is Screwy, who plays a dick here on the board but isn't so much of one irl, at least not during the few times our paths have crossed. He did seem a bit more subdued this weekend than he normally does - quieter, more pensive. Hope everything's ok, dude.
Left Seater showed up in the 5th inning, I think.
Thanks...forgot to mention that. His flight got delayed in Detroit. Didn't get a chance to spend much time with Lefty - he was only in town for about 20 hrs. But I enjoyed the time I did get to chat with him. Smart guy, low key, easy-going - if I didn't know any better, I'd swear he was from my home state. Doesn't get too excited outwardly about much, but could converse knowledgeably on whatever it was that was brought up. Hope to get to know him better sometime.
Mrs. 88 is a charming, lovely, & delightful gal. She seemed a bit reserved, like she wanted to bust loose with us but just didn't quite know us well enough to open up. But it's apparent she's devoted to her work, is very passionate, and cares deeply about her family. And by G0d, we'll get her out of her shell next time we get together, which I don't imagine will be too far in the future. 88 is the kind of guy you want for your neighbor. Seems like he'd drop anything to lend a hand, and even though the bar is high, he seems like a better guy irl than he is as a poster. Hoping to make a Cleveland roadie in the next few months to check out his neck o' the woods.
And of course mama was great at being the hostess & helping get everything arranged. Think I'll go ahead & marry her.
All said, I'd consider the trollstop a success, although that's better left to those who visited. Was great hangin' out with everyone.

You can count me out from every meeting up with a group like this. I'm glad you had some fun but I bet you had to take all of your effort to try to act civil to each other. You spend each day on here trying to find clever ways to humiliate each other and then meet up and slap each other on the back and act like it's all good. Whatever floats your boat. I might meet up individually with a person or so from here who acts like an adult human. I wouldn't trust you in a group. Sorry. Just too much bad blood and I've had enough experience with people who act fake and then bite your hand.
I have a miserable life and wish I were dead!
