Substitute "picking cotton" with "holding a job" and it is a simple observation.

Be that as it may, I haven't heard him say any such thing. Have you? Did see or hear him say this?

The guy is more of a freeloader than any of the people he's criticizing. Only difference is he's a white guy with a gun.

He and all of his "supporters", who chose to take up arms against the government, should be rounded up and charged with seditious conspiracy or treason.

Being stuck in Bunkerville, NV, may actually be punishment enough.

He should go to jail for being a racist? PS: did you consider the context?
Not what I said. He should go to jail for taking up arms against the government.

Explain to me how the "context" makes any difference. He's still breaking the law.

So, he hasn't been grazing cattle for 20 years on land he doesn't own (owned by the citizens of the United States) without paying any grazing fees?
Worst sort of welfare rancher and a hypocritical freeloader. Prolly jerks off to his own image in the mirror every day, just like you do.

Most of the other Western ranchers think he's a nutcase and is breaking the law.

He made the improvements on the land not the Feds. He produces a product. The Feds are freeloading on him. Regardless of whether or not he's right, I will support anyone who delivers a check to our hyper-militarized police state. That is a good thing.

The worst part of this whole thing is Harry Reid, trying to make political hay out of it. Nice NYT story about him saying this isn't over for the Federal government because people can't choose which laws they want to follow.

Pretty funny coming from old Harry who is pushing amnesty for law breakers and outright blatant disregard for immigration laws. Not to mention his stance in the 90s against it.

What improvements are you talking about. He owns a ranch in Buttfucksville NV, something like 160 acres, and grazes on 1000s of acres of land that he doesn't own. You call running cattle "making improvements"? You're even denser than I thought.

Of course it isn't over. Harry's grimy paw prints are all over this and he won't stop until his nest is properly feathered. He is even trying to seal the deal by installing his own hand picked minion and the new head of the BLM.
Now, questions surrounding family ties are flaring again in Nevada around the Senate majority leader. He and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert.

Reid has been one of the project's most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on behalf of the project in Nevada. His son, a lawyer with a prominent Las Vegas firm that is representing ENN, helped it locate a 9,000-acre (3,600-hectare) desert site that it is buying well below appraised value from Clark County, where Rory Reid formerly chaired the county commission.

I saw the context. Doesn't really change anything. My beef with him has nothing to do with racism. He's free to be an ignorant asshole as long as he wants. He's still committing a crime no matter what the "context" is. He needs to be run off the public land by force if necessary. And all those phony "cowboy" posers that love having their pictures taken with him would prolly not hang around too long if push really came to shove.

Right.

The guys's an out and out liar, just like you.
Clark County property records show Cliven Bundy's parents bought the 160 acre ranch in 1948 from Raoul and Ruth Leavitt.

Water rights were transferred too, but only to the ranch, not the federally managed land surrounding it. Court records show Bundy family cattle didn't start grazing on that land until 1954.

The Bureau of Land Management was created 1946, the same year Cliven was born.

"My rights are before the BLM even existed, but my rights are created by beneficial use. Beneficial use means we created the forage and the water from the time the very first pioneers come here," Bundy said.

The agency, citing concerns over public safety, ended their operation to seize Bundy's cattle. Agency Director Neil Kornze, however, has said the agency would pursue their case through administrative and judicial means.

During a Friday night conference call, the agency told reporters that so-called "illegal structures" like water tanks, water lines and corrals, had to be removed in order to "restore" the land to its natural state. They also said it was necessary to prevent Bundy from restarting his cattle operation.

Unfortunately, the feds manner of dealing with him was WAY over the top, outrageous, and frankly very disturbing.

Bundy's "race" comments are not PC.
Oh well...

SOME blacks would be better off as slaves.

But the problem with his comments is that he didn't account for the many millions of black folks who are MUCH better off not being slaves.

If he wanted to make a logical point, he should have clarified that he was only talking about blacks who are slaves to the government -- and not blacks who use their freedom to make good lives for themselves.
Those folks are surely a LOT better off not being slaves, and it ain't even close.

He said stupid shit.

I'm not sure if he singled them out.

If you listen to the short clip BSmack posted, he said, "I'll tell you another thing about the negro..."

So it seems the discussion we did not hear, prior to the comments we did hear, was about blacks specifically.

So he was just elaborating on the discussion... about blacks... which was already taking place.

How it is that the discussion started about blacks is something I don't know.

Maybe he did start it, I don't know.

88, I agree that a distinction needs to be drawn between "the negro" (balcks in general) and "the negro," the portion of the balck population who is now "enslaved" as a dependent on the government.

There is no way one can logically say that blacks as a whole were better off in slavery -- and I doubt that Bundy was saying that.

I think he intended to speak specifically about those who live in projects and are on the gov teet for their pathetic existence.

But perhaps I am giving him the benefit of the doubt.

That is why I'd like to know what the discussion about THE NEGRO was prior to the comments we heard.
Because he did say, "I'll tell you SOMETHING ELSE about the negro..."

At any rate, him being a racist or non-racist has absolutely ZERO to do with the situation he and the gov are involved in.

Funny, for a "racist," he sure does have many good things to say about the mexican illegals (starting around 4:00) -- praising them above the whites.
In fact, he says many of the same things Wagon has said about the illegals on this board.

He also says, prior to the "I'll tell you SOMETHING ELSE about the negro" part, that there has been a lot of PROGRESS since Watts, and we don't want to go back.
It is BETTER for blacks now, since they have more rights, than it was then, according to Bundy.

In the remarks he made which have caused a storm, he is clearly talking about is the portion of balcks who are project "slaves" of the government -- and how this is not good for them.

But continue with your own narratives, because I know you will.

it doesn't matter what he's done, he doesn't own the land....tell you what, try building something on state owned land and see what happens.....as for his "my family has been on this land since the 1800's" we now find out that's a load of horseshit, as they've discovered his family started utilizing the land in the 1950's.....those grazing fees he's avoided paying is money that's due the citizens of this country.....his refusal to pay the fees are equivalent to me refusing to pay taxes......

I've appraised a vast number of ranches that incorporate government owned grazing land into their operations.....never once did I ever have a rancher say "the grazing fees they're charging are unfair"......I've seen ranchers that have placed improvements on the land, but they also realize that if the grazing permit goes south, they are not going to be reimbursed for improvements they chose to put on land they didn't own......the amount the feds charge is based on the carrying capacity of the leased land and around these parts, grazing fees are a fucking bargain.....this douchenozzle wants a free ride, and that's not the way it works.......

88 wrote:Dude, there isn't any way to characterize a reference to "the negro" as a slave to the government as anything but racist.
He made no such characterization. Here is what he actually said.
“There is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do,” Bundy said. “They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do. And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
Now you can make a case that he is an historically illiterate moron whose understanding of plantation life is apparently derived from Uncle Remus folktales but this is hardly racist. Substitute picking cotton with working and it's a fair question.

How is that welfare state working out for the hood rat community? Are you truly free when you are wholly dependent on the coerced "charity" of others? Pat Moynihan made similar observation years ago although his prescription for even more welfare has proved to be a catastrophic failure.

yes, anarchy is what we really need now....make your own determination of what's lawful and what's not.....hey, if there is somebody jaywalking in front of your car which prevents you from making the green light up ahead, just go ahead and execute them on the spot.....lemme know how that works out for you

I have no "raging hatred." I simply recognize and accept no excuses for failed, degenerate sub-cultures.

And, yes, when courts are routinely corrupt and make up laws as they go, the correct course of action is to ignore them. The correct response to a hyper-militarized police state is resistance.
