Why do you care? Are you tired of Oregon kicking your ass with Cali kids?

We don't need more NCAA regulation and bylaws, we need less.schmick wrote:A states prep athletes are a commodity whose development is funded by that states tax payers. As a state paid for commodity each state should have the ability to protect that good from being pillaged by carpet bagging athletic programs from other states who are trying to steal that states tax payer funded goods. I pay ridiculous amounts of state and property taxes, part of which goes to the parks, schools, coaches and meals that developed these athletes, why shouldn't I and other residents of this state, who funded the development of these kids, not be rewarded by watching these kids play for and represent schools in the state that developed them?
And kids aren't commodities. They're actual human beings who have this thing called freewill, which means they can play anywhere they want, and as such, universities should be able to go wherever they want to recruit them.

really dumb schmick. you acknowledge the commodification of young people, endorse it....yet, seem to favor state's rights over the free market? more than rights, it's control or something. weird. the general hangup with "state identity" you have is cute but a bit parochial. nostalgia for the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union? especially since you are a fan and when they are good booster of a private school. your cake and eat it too position is funny. whatever benefits USC is your "principled" position?
far as it goes, the next time an SEC rule applies to teams outside the SEC....let me know. SEC coaches wouldn't be complaining if Furman or UAB were holding camps....and, no spek to the FOX Sports writer for only getting response quotes from Mississippi coaches. the least relevant "state" in the SEC.
recruits should probably only have internet access to sites within 50 miles of their house, too.

Poodle was 4-3 against Oregon in his 9 years. Don't act like this is a recent trend.schmick wrote:Oregon beat a USC team on sanctions and with kiffen as their head coach.

Possibly. But Carroll barely had an above .500 record against the Ducks. Don't make it sound like this just started happening under Kiffen.

so did Carson Palmer. does he suck, too? i know, he did under Hackett. he did...schmick wrote:Started under hackett
i still don't get this overlap of authorities and jurisprudence you are advocating. AD's in a state are making rules based on state identity.....or athletic conferences (with private schools that don't have to open their financial books--as in USC)....are making rules that are enforceable on state lines.....
if i am the AD at Dallas Baptist University....OU or OSU or Nebraska hosts a football camp on my campus, I make a lot of money for my AD...and my D-II baseball program, maybe my library, my on-line education infrastructure, my faculty hiring....my baseball program which has been in the D-II NCAA in 2008 and super-regional 2011...want to take a step up.....somehow i'm supposed to value that LESS than some other Texas school like Tech and Baylor who are not even contemplating my location as a camp? I get paid by DBU....not the state of Texas or Deloss Dodds or the Yell Leaders or Kenny Starr?
because of "state pride"....am i going to piss off Baylor fans or the Tech AD, and who cares if I do...since Oklahoma is recruiting in Texas since forever, Oregon is recruiting in California....
i think all the Cal system and Cal-State schools and state funded California public high schools shouldn't allow private schools to recruit their students....though that might be kind of a wet dream for you. maybe USC shouldn't be allowed to admit academic students from other states?
i still don't get this appeal you make to who should make these decisions?

So now every state would have to host an Army All American HS game and practices since only the coaches from the state in which it was held would be able to attend.
Stupid.
Stupid.

Re: sec coaches are upset that pedo state
You do know coaches are at that game and on the sidelines despite the dead period? Tell me you knew.
Just because it is a dead period doesn't mean coaches can't observe players. And according to your stupid proposal, no out of state coaches would be able attend said games, so yes each state would need to host said game.

In person contact. The coaches could call them if they so choose.schmick wrote:They could still attend the game, from an area in the bleachers where they could not have any contact with the players or other fans/family there in attendance. And they couldnt attend the practices

Re: sec coaches are upset that pedo state
So they can attend all star games from afar, but not camps if said state voted them out?
This plan sounds amazing!
