Another school shooting

Wake up PARENTS. Yes, I'm blaming parents. Not guns. Not schools. Not bullies. Not the NRA. Not video games. PARENTS. Parents these days are so self involved, self medicated, work involved, selfish, and have no idea what is going on with their kid.

These will continue. We just had some guy kill his wife, 3 young daughters, and himself down here. Expect more anguish over guns. I'll venture a wild guess that he was taking some sort of prescription medicine. You know, one of those that is advertised on TV with disclaimers like "if you have suicidal thoughts stop taking it". Yeah, right.

If you are expecting some conservative enclave to jump out in the Portland metro area that differs from the staunch liberal demographic that IS Portland, then as usual you are wrong.

Troutdale is area in East county that is populated by Asian gangsters, Mexican gangsters and tag along white trash. The school district itself had corrupt administration, and has had multiple administrators over the last few years, and has been on double secret probation for a long time.

To hear of a school shooting there is no surprise, since drive bys, random park shootings are fairly common there.

And it was a " gun free zone" as declared by the school districts and state law. I guess he forgot to read that law.

Started my morning out in Northeast, a few miles in from Troutdale. Just about got ran over by 10 cop cars going full tilt... an hour and a half after the incident was over.

Cops do like to feel important when someone gets shot.

They're mostly pissed that someone beat them to a potential target.

In the last presidential election Troutdale went 76% for Obama.

His love for the art of disputation in advocacy is quite admirable. If his execution in that arena lacks a certain entertainment value, too bad. No one said such endeavors need be pretty.

The exhortation that he shut it is pretty questionable, considering the author's own love of incessant disputation.

In the end it all makes for nice helpings of smack.

Interesting link but best places dot com does not link to any source material that I could find.

I think this is more accurate.

Which "civilized world" were you referring to?

You do realize Upper Mexico has double the rate of violent crime as the USA, right?

Not a fucking chance.

But please, tell me more about this Troutdale place -- it's been several days since I've been there.

It has 34% registered Democrats. Anything else I can help you with?

No way those figures are accurate.

While Oregon has by far the largest percentage of independents in the country, if anyone believes Troutdale is 40% independents (outnumbering Dems in Dem Utopia), I have some oceanfront property in East County to sell them.

In fact, I'll stick with the numbers I provided. They sound quite reasonable.

Oh they are accurate. More accurate than my reporting of them. I said 34 but it's 37 for D and 31 for R and 24 non partisan which leaves less than 10 for assorted right and left wing wackos.

One small point here.

I was a registered D when I lived in MA. That allowed me to vote in the D primes, which was where the real elections in MA took place.

In Texas it doesn't matter which party you are registered with if any, because when you go to the polls on primary day you just tell them which one you want to vote in.

Not sure how Oregon does it, but if it is like MA that could skew the D numbers lower.

I won't bother with a link, but all public schools in Oregon are gun free by state law, the exception being (by recent court ruling) a concealed handgun permit holder can take theirs on to school property, but students and faculty cannot.

It is like MA -- have to be registered with a part to vote in the primary, which slightly skews the numbers (slightly) because the republican primaries are the ones that matter here, and your vote "counts" for more.

And again, I'll bet my little toe that Troutdale is more than 37& democrat registered. Might be why Multnomah County hasn't voted for a republican in a statewide election in something like 30 years.

But you were a R voting as a D so you skewed the D # higher, so by your argument it could be a predominately R.

I'm sure it has more D but those are the registration numbers. Mostly I was just fucking with the fat man because I knew I had that link to back me up. I rarely post first and google second.

Strictly anecdotal based on my circle, but it's generally non-affiliated people who register R to vote in the (by far) minority party primaries.

Does that mean that there are schools where students or faculty CAN carry hand guns onto school property?

For starters, a person has to be 21 years old to concealed-carry.

I think there's private colleges, but I think that's more of a "don't ask, don't tell" thing.

In Oregon, I read that 1 in 16 adults has a permit, and is packing. Something for people prone to road-raging to keep in mind.

Here in Texas teacher and faculty can carry on campus if the school district has approved a measure written by the school districts legal council. The measure must include certain items including the teacher or faculty member must have a Texas concealed carry permit, must have an on person evaluation by a district approved mental health professional, must take a state approved active shooter scenario class and have the campus principal sign off. One note, principals may not refuse strictly based on the fact they don't want guns on their campus. If teachers feel this was the reason, they can appeal to the school board for a signature override.

Of course this hasn't reached many of the in we city schools where it is most likely necessary for teachers to be armed.

At least that. There are at least 15,000 in Washington County alone. The sheriffs office has 2 full time employees in that unit. At least that is what they told me when I renewed mine last week.

There may or may not be administrators carrying concealed weapons in our county. There may be people associated with these districts in volunteer roles who carry. There may be administrators that know committee members may or may not carry at these meetings and give the wink wink. There may be well armed SROs in plain clothes at these meetings.

This video is why this needs to be. One armed citizen with a decent level of training puts about 4 rounds in this guy easily. Carry on.
