You must have been hallucinating. After paying his California taxes Mickelson is now living on food stamps & driving an '88 Tercel. It's a shame that California is oppressing him so much.

Never mind that Phil recently moved out of California in large part due to taxes. IRS changes that led to fewer deductions of state income tax payments for high earning individuals has driven a few athletes out of high tax states.

Add to that CA now has one of the highest jock taxes in the country. If he had stayed and maintained his primary residence there, all his tourney and endorsement income would be subject to said jock tax. By moving out of state only his tourney winnings are subject to the CA jock tax.

Our prisons need the money more than he does.

Maybe so, but now they will be getting far less since he limited his exposure to CA.

And since he gets to live more than once it doesn't matter that he moved to a hellhole. He did move to tx right?

Florida. But like like Texas they have no state income tax and no jock tax.

Remember we are talking about "primary" residence. I'm sure Phil has quite a few choice pieces of real estate, he just files his taxes from the cardboard box in Florida. :grin:
