Easily one of the best bass players to have ever lived. I have spent hours watching these Royal Albert videos and learning from his style. I consider the Royal Albert performances to be some of the best bass playing ever.

And he was a far superior vocalist than a certain member of Cream not named Ginger Baker.

Got to see Jack Bruce & Friends (David Sancious, Clem Clempson, & Billy Cobham) several years ago in a small club in Phoenix. Cool show, great musician. Always figured Ginger would go first.

Why did Cream call it quits after 2 years? I don't recall reading about any battles or somebody fukking somebody's OL or anything.

Baker & Bruce had a history of not getting along with each other dating back to their days as members of the Graham Bond Organisation; Baker had once pulled a knife on Bruce. Baker wanted to leave GBO, and Clapton wanted to move on from being part of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Baker suggested to Clapton that they form a band together, and Clapton insisted that Bruce be part of it. B&B set aside their differences for the sake of the new band, and things went well for the first year, but after that, shit went downhill. Clapton felt the band members didn't listen to each other and had to play peacemaker between the other two. Better amps (Marshall stacks) led Bruce to crank up the volume to the point where Baker's drumming couldn't compete, and Clapton said during one concert that he stopped playing and the other two didn't notice. They mutually decided to disband rather than endure the agony of staying together.

Dave,
Your rock trivia knowledge is....well......near dinsdalian. How the fukkk do you find room in that dome for anything else? Imagine the amount of stuff you could cram in there if you never discovered weed.

Ginger is quite the character. I could see how he might be a bit difficult to deal with day to day. I think he is a great drummer though. Dude is funny to listen to. He is cockney and uppity intellectual all at the same time.

Ginger makes Ozzy seem lucid. He claims to have come off heroin 29 times, lost everything 6 or 7 times he says, jammed a stick in some reporters grille.

Sorry, but nobody makes Ozzy look lucid, but, point taken. And despite being a lifelong junky, he still comes across as well spoken. I think it is that fukking british accent. Even their heroin addicts sound like professors.
