U.S. News and World Report released their inaugural Best Global Universities ranking and here are the top 10:

1. Harvard University (U.S.)
2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (U.S.)
3. University of California—Berkeley (U.S.)

4. Stanford University (U.S.)
5. University of Oxford (U.K.)
6. University of Cambridge (U.K.)
7. California Institute of Technology (U.S.)
8.University of California—Los Angeles (U.S.)
9. University of Chicago (U.S.)
10. Columbia University (U.S.)

That being said, it's interesting how 40% of the top ten universities in the world reside in California.

There are also 5 U.C. campuses in the top 30 schools and 6 U.C. campuses in the top 40 schools.

Incredible.

What the fuck is a "global" university?

Is that like an online degree?

According to the Berkman Center for Internet and Society:

"What gives meaning and definition to a global university? (It's) about the current brick and mortar efforts in comparison with what data networking offers in creating global learning, and the potential impact technology could have on rethinking undergraduate curriculum."

In other words, an academy by internet. Just point and click your way to a "higher" education.
