Excelsior Springs is alright but take a ride up to Weston sometime on 45 hwy and do a PET. This time of year especially, when the fall colors are at their peak. 45 hwy is basically an outer road of the Missouri river bluffs and you will find many a biker haven in downtown Weston.
Made that drive last Saturday but the trees were not quite there yet.

Hope you enjoyed your time up in my neck of the woods, and the grub at Wabash.
Whenever you make the roadie up to Weston, swing on over to Leavenworth, and check out a bbq joint called All Slabbed Up. As good of ribs as you will find in KC, and a great place to take a break during a ride.
Also, speaking of bbq, make a point to get to the new place in KCK that may have the best ribs and burnt-ends that you will find. SLAPS (Squeal Like A Pig). They won the
BBQ Pitmasters TV Show Challenge and are becoming the talk of the town. Kind of a hole in the wall, but right off the highway, and the food is EXCELLENT, and fairly priced. Get there early though. This is a lunch place. They cook daily and serve until they run out, which is usually no later than 2.
