Page, Jones, and Bonham can all still play.
Plant has no voice left.
Why is this not in the BP Music Forum?

OR - they could try to sing along with a pre-recorded backing track...
This is just sad to watch.

it’s not likely that the band can hire a replacement for Plant’s unique voice.
I'm guessing there are replacement vocalists who can sing more like the vintage Plant did than the current Plant can. His voice is cooked.

Even before 72 Plant's voice wasn't handling the rigors of wailing like that. There are plenty of examples of Plant suddenly detunning himself down an octave or so in the middle of songs. The one that sticks out in my mind is his renditions of "Good Times Bad Times." Small wonder that one got booted from the setlist rather quickly.

Okay Sam, I'll chime in on this one. (No Toolio, down boy, stop your Pavlovian drooling.)
As you can well guess, this is a no brainer from an artistic standpoint. Plant can't bring it vocally and it would be an utter humiliation to try to go the lip synch route, via Roger Waters and company. The point of seeing an artist live it to hear and see them perform. Real music, real vocals. There is a time and place for recorded backing or lead tracks and vocals during live performances. A Beyoncé as example, can be forgiven due to the physical gymnastics required in her act, for the use of lip synching. Her fans are there for the spectacle as well as the music. Now the same can be said for an old style Rush or Pink Floyd show, if layered vocals or sound effects are required. But these guys don't dance and gyrate around the stage, so recorded lead vocals would be a cheat. Can you make an exception for someone who's at the end of a long tour and their voice is shredded? Sure, as they don't want to cheat their fans out of a crapload of money paid for a show they've been waiting weeks or months to see.
However, trying to put on a show just for the payday, as Zep would have done here, and fake it in any way, would be a pretty shitty thing to do to their loyal fans, or anyone else wanting to be entertained and expecting a classic LZ performance. This is the whole point of hanging it up when your skills have deteriorated. Give me the memory of a great past show where a band shined on (insert Pink Floyd reference) due to an extraordinary live set, not the sad image of a once great band or artist floundering about pathetically, like The Who (minus 2) at the Super Bowl.
Far be it from me or anyone else to deny somebody signing a contract and making a billion dollars. If somebody is going to be dumb enough to pay it, go ahead and take it, so long as you don't mind the tarnish on the legacy while you're at it.
I'm sure mvscal will adhere to his "money talks, save your bullshit and walk" advocacy. Money does speak volumes. The bigger the payday, the greater the success. His Rolling Stones example is accurate, in the sense of how much cash they walked away with. I saw the Stones the last time they played in Phoenix and it was absolutely horrible. Worst live sound at any concert I've ever endured and the band seemed apathetic, just going through the motions. Now that might be an exception to the rule, but I know I would never pay to see them again after that.
Just because a band can still make money, it doesn't mean they have earned or deserved it. As I said before, there are a lot of loyally stupid fans out there that love to tread water on past greatness. There's something really sad about paying to see an artist who doesn't care about anything more than a fat check and screwing over their fans.

you don't say?
I bought this album when I was like 13 or so. This song had my saintly old mother beebopping. Plant will eventually die, but this will never get old.

What the hell is that even supposed to mean? You don't seem to have much in the way of reading comprehension.

what do you mean a 66 year old fukker can't sing the immigrant song 4 nights a week?
as for the payday part of it, i suspect that none of them have had to do anything for the money since sometime around 1972.
would still love to see them, even if bob just stood up there and hummed.

TThey need to just do what other classic rock bands have. I saw yes a few years back. They has some canadian runt that absolutely nailed jon anderson's vocals. And that is no easy feat. I would like to see the filipino dude who apparently does a pretty damn respectable steve perry. That has to be weird to watch. I think a short fat black chick doing RP vocals would be worth the price of admission.

Obfuscate much?
You brought up the Rolling Stones = money example. Your argument was based on how much money the Stones grossed as a reason for them not to quit touring. I had not even mentioned or implied the Stones when I cited my opinion about "dinosaur acts". You assumed it and that was on you, dumbass.
So my line is perfectly clear, for anyone that has a reading and comprehension ability over the age of IKYABWAI.
Stick to the cooking forum, it's what you do somewhat adequately.

In a 2009 interview with The Miami Herald, Debbie D. reflected on her choice to leave Avenue D, "I was ready to do something new. I was tired of everybody coming up to me and asking me, 'Do I look like a slut?' Irony only goes so far. We turned into the characters in our songs. We wrote them when we were 21. By 28 I had just outgrown it."

I think you're referring to David Benoit. Yes replaced him with this Jon Davison guy:
I saw them a couple of years ago, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. He didn't miss a single note. I went in skeptical of him, and left a big fan. He sings Anderson better than Anderson can sing Anderson now...
Who is the old fat fuck on keys? When I saw them, they had wakeman's kid who did a decent enough job and is a clone of the old man. That dude looks like a fat redneck. spray, did you play keyboards for Yes and forget to tell us? Steve Howe looks about 700 year old. And he really should eat something. Chris Squire should stop eating everything.

The keyboardist is Geoff Downes, who along with Trevor Horn of the Buggles, joined Yes in 1980 for the album "Drama". He's also a founding member of Asia and he needs to lay off the pastries. Damn good keyboard player, but he has packed on the lb's.
Buggles era Horn and Downes.
Downes now. Time and appetite have not been kind.

Like he has some kind of syndrome?
Anyway, Branson denies the whole thing, there was no offer.
Rack that papa willie character, he seems to know his stuff! :-)
