Veteran's Day is now holding even more meaning to me seeing as that my son just officially enlisted w/the Army. Reports Jan. 26th to Ft. Leonard Wood. My biggest fear isn't that he might find himself in a war zone as a medic. It is that he might contract a malady that faaaaar shadows that of dusty warzones, spittled w/blood... and that is Missouri/KCjunctibolavirus.
Dear God, I hope he doesn't come back more stupid than when he left.

Of course I'm old enough to remember this day as Armistice Day. Initially to pay tribute to the end of the "War to End All Wars" on november 11. 1918 at 11 AM. Somewhere along the line, probably when we figured out war never ends, it became Veteran's Day. At least now it is back on the proper day of November 11.
I salute your son Ken. May he return to civilian life whole in body and spirit.

Don't worry Ken, he'll be close to the Ozarks and should be able to stay out of trouble. While off duty, be can do some hiking, horseback riding, float trips etc. in some gorgeous country.

I'm assuming he'll be there for at least 3-6 months.
Don't know if is his kid likes to fish, but the Missouri trout season opener is around March 1st and Bennet Spring state park is just down the road from FLW.
