Dead kids, beaten wives ordering pizza, and toenail fungus. Wow, what a bunch of depressing commercials. At least the Seahawks are winning.
Women who won't fuck you.Rooster wrote:That was the other thing-- who was that marketed to? Tweener girls?
Pretty sure the beaten wife on the phone ordering pizza was a real call.Rooster wrote:Dead kids, beaten wives ordering pizza, and toenail fungus. Wow, what a bunch of depressing commercials. At least the Seahawks are winning.
No, it was a lame ad. Budweiser should not have to resort to reverse snobbery. Their beer already sells well amongst their target demo. Have some confidence in your product.Left Seater wrote:I did like the Bud commercial making fun of craft beers, pumpkin almond spice, Bwahhahahahah.
I agree, Budweiser is supposed to be doing its best to be ATTRACTING that young demographic (which it has been hemorrhaging) and instead it mocks it. I don't get it. Bud is my mainstay as it is certainly cheaper than more expensive "craft" beers, but I also enjoy the latter, though much less frequently.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote: No, it was a lame ad. Alright, fine. Prince didn't because he's a bad ass. I forgot about him. Hard to remember all the normally forgettable halftime acts from over the years.Papa Willie wrote: Not all. Prince didn't. While there was a lot of pre-recorded tracks last year, Bruno Mars was actually singing. The Who sure as fuck didn't.
Great story.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote: No, it was a lame ad. Budweiser should not have to resort to reverse snobbery. Their beer already sells well amongst their target demo. Have some confidence in your product.

MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:I heard somebody say that the message they're essentially sending is that you should never think about beer, you should just shut up and consume it. It's offensive to the consumer but the sheeple who dutifully tip back their Buds either don't care or are too stupid to realize this.
It's funny too because Budweiser is in the business of buying craft breweries. Just recently they purchased a brewery out of Seattle that makes a...wait for it...pumpkin peach ale.
Personally, I never understood why anybody feels the need to choose between micro and macro beer. There's a time and place for both beverages. If I'm at a brewpub I'm probably going to want to sample one of their house ales. If I'm tailgating or at a ball game, or doing anything where multiple beers will be involved, I'm going to stick with Piss Lite.
There were plenty of women at the party where I was. They had heard that those were supposed to be real calls, and mentioned as much.Left Seater wrote: Pretty sure the beaten wife on the phone ordering pizza was a real call.
There are plenty of times where a beer or especially multiple aren't involved. Give me good distilled spirits every time over the best beer.War Wagon wrote:

I mean, what's the point?
tis a good thing you don't miss left turns as far as you missed the gist of my post.Left Seater wrote:There are plenty of times where a beer or especially multiple aren't involved. Give me good distilled spirits every time over the best beer.
There are plenty of decent craft lager, pilsener, wheat and seasonal brews that fill the bill for session drinking.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:If I'm tailgating or at a ball game, or doing anything where multiple beers will be involved, I'm going to stick with Piss Lite.
There's even session pale ales.BSmack wrote:There are plenty of decent craft lager, pilsener, wheat and seasonal brews that fill the bill for session drinking.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:If I'm tailgating or at a ball game, or doing anything where multiple beers will be involved, I'm going to stick with Piss Lite.
I don't think it's truly any good, either. Shame since it's from GR.Goober McTuber wrote: Founder's makes a similar beer they called All Day IPA, though it's not truly an IPA.
Premium price for the same ABV = not a good return on your investment for session drinking, especially when you won't care what's in your hand after you've tipped back a few. Also, depending on where you are and what you're doing, there are not always "plenty" of these options available.BSmack wrote:There are plenty of decent craft lager, pilsener, wheat and seasonal brews that fill the bill for session drinking.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:If I'm tailgating or at a ball game, or doing anything where multiple beers will be involved, I'm going to stick with Piss Lite.
Does taste mean nothing to you, you heathen bastard?MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Premium price for the same ABV = not a good return on your investment for session drinking, especially when you won't care what's in your hand after you've tipped back a few. No, slightly higher price for far better taste. If you're not in college you shouldn't be quibbling over a few extra Dinero for a better time.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Premium price for the same ABV = not a good return on your investment for session drinking, especially when you won't care what's in your hand after you've tipped back a few. I guess that's where Budweiser comes in, right, Bsuds?BSmack wrote: No, slightly higher price for far better taste. If you're not in college you shouldn't be quibbling over a few extra Dinero for a better time.
I enjoy craft brews (and imports more-so) I just don't feel the need to drink them exclusively for every occasion. Perhaps when I'm your age, when every meal and beverage might be my last, I'll think differently.Goober McTuber wrote:Does taste mean nothing to you, you heathen bastard?
God, you're so high maintenance. I'm sure you never have an occasional fast food burger either, you pampered queen you.BSmack wrote:No, slightly higher price for far better taste. I drank PBR before it was became hipster kool-aid and a lot of long neck OMs. One year my friends and I found a place that sold Schmitts for 6 bucks a case and we drank enough of that we turned the empty long neck cases into dorm room furniture.Screw_Michigan wrote:I guess that's where Budweiser comes in, right, Bsuds?BSmack wrote: No, slightly higher price for far better taste. I consume about 3 beers a week.BSmack wrote:Jesus Rumple, get some treatment.
If consumption is the goal, skip beer completely and go straight to Everclear or Bacardi 151. But before you do either give someone else your keys.Go Coogs' wrote:I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on quality brew when consumption is the main goal...after you've pounded your first sixer in less than two hours, there really is no point in worrying about quality if you continue at that pace for the next few hours.
And most bars sell shit beers for 5 bucks a pop these days. Wow. You saved a whole 5.00?Sudden Sam wrote:I'm old school (love my Buds and Coronas, the few beers I drink these days), but the other night I met a couple of younger coworkers at a bar in Montgomery I'd never visited before.
I don't even like to try new beers usually, but I threw caution to the wind and sampled several different draft beers.
4 beers cost me $25, $30 with the tip. I enjoyed the beers, but I ain't doin' that on a regular basis.
