Surely the DNC isn't dumb enough to trot out Hillary.
That would be the only way the 2 idiots from the GOP have a chance.

At least Scott Walker is battle tested.
I think Marc Rubio is who the Rs should run to have any kind of chance on the left coast.

Trickle down..... give it the fuck up. And get the fuck out of the party. How do you think people like Barry and Hilary get elected? But go ahead and fist-fuck yourselves some more and the sad part is your plots/policies are being exposed. Goodnight Irene.

Rand Paul says stupid things and is utterly unpalatable to both the GOP establishment and any private sector group that depends on foreign intervention. He's toast, but he'll become an idol to the Randian wing of the party.
Trev's favorite fatty is toast. He will be hard pressed win a primary in his home state. If he does run he will be boat raced in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Palin, Perry, Huckabee and Token Negros 1 and 2 are all incapable of getting the resources needed to run a campaign in the post citizens united political landscape. TOAST.
That leaves the Koch candidate vs wannabe Bush 45. My bet is on the dynasty. Too bad for the University of Wisconsin. It is about to become very mediocre thanks to Walker's Presidential ambitions.

Power always consolidates when the masses are stupid or indifferent or scared or distracted or any combination there of. The power in the US has consolidated for all four reasons and isn't likely to change anytime soon. We had a chance in the 1800's to make a good 4-5 hundred year run until Lincoln (The dumbest President in history) fucked the whole thing up by not kicking the South to the curb and letting their dumbasses fend for themselves. Now only 200+ years past 1789 and we are sucking wind and have a five state wide cancer on our face.

88, Walker said to teach ONE MORE class, not tech more than one or two classes. Profs are paid salary. So what Walker is saying is he wants them to work more but not get paid more. Also, he wants more adjuncts and fewer tenured faculty. Not a good deal for students at all.

What we really need is not a new and better R or D, but a strong dose of A. As in Alternative. Nothing will change until the corrupt two-party system is blown the fuck up and replaced with something far weaker. The D's and the R's have cooperated to game the citizens, who now work for them.
And if you think the D's give two shits about the "middle class and working poor", you should drop in to one of their $50,000 per plate fundraisers at Bab's house and listen to the Wall Street tycoons they serve mewl about how rotten the R's who serve the other Wall Street tycoons treat the middle class and the working poor. I'm sure it would break your heart.
I vote the lesser of two evils which is nearly impossible because, as you mention, they are nearly one and the same anymore. I would not be surprised to see a huge patriotic movements or protests of some sort yet in my lifetime that will shake this country to its core. ( and I'm not talking knuckle-dragger, tea-baggers parades the Koch bros serve cookies and lemonade to after)
Not that I wish for anarchy or no rule of law but something needs to happen that sends a crystal clear message/warning to washington and those who handle it. And I think that would be a good thing if the aspiring oligarchy and plutocrats everywhere were shaking in their gated communities like poodles awaiting a steel-toe boot upside their perfumed, curly-haired domes.

Yeah, let's not do anything that would help hold college costs down and make a university degree more attainable for everyone. If minority leaders really cared about minorities they would support this proposal with everything they had.

It might not be his motivation, but it would certainly be a result. Therefore everyone should support it unless they want to see college costs kept out of reach.

A full 1/4 at the University my dad taught at was 12 units of lecture and two units of lab. That's 18 hours a week of instruction. If you add a class it's about 5 more hours of instruction, depending on how much is lab. That would be a total of 23 hours of instruction. That leaves 5 fewer hours a week to prep for class and grade papers have office hours, and there is around 20% more prep and grading to do. Once you start getting beyond the 1-1 ratio of class to prep you are doing a disservice to the kids, at least in my book. There are better ways to save money. At least at Cal Poly.

I never said to remove any funding. I said if each prof taught one more class it would help hold the cost of attending down.

I can read. If it were the case that professors were overworked now, you might have a valid point. But, on average, they only spend about 350 to 450 hours in the classroom per year. If they taught another class, it isn't like they would be turned into sleepless zombies.
You are a shit eating moron if you think instruction time is all there is to being a professor.
88 wrote:BSmack wrote:Not a good deal for students at all.
How so? The cost of an education is based, in part, on the salaries of the individuals who provide the educational services to the students. If the students have to pay fewer salaries to obtain their education, how is that not a good deal for students?
[/quote]
The state is pulling 300 million in funding. They are not applying the difference to tuition or aid programs. Tuitions will likely go up to offset the loss in funding.

Nah, if any changes to the college/university system needs to be made, it would be that the institutionalized lib professors are given their pink slips and a hard kick in the ass as they exit the building. The PC bullshit that is being force fed to our youth in higher "education" is one of our country's major sources of trouble.

That's like a drop in the ocean. You know what would help keep the cost of attending down? Ending the ridiculous facilities arms race on campus, slashing the bloated number of garbage administrative positions on campus and returning proper state funding to colleges instead of this pathetic rate hovering around 10-20 percent. But go ahead, cut costs on the back of those liberal, unionized professors, and score those political points. We all know that's your goal here, don't pretend otherwise.

Nor should they be, you're getting into murky territory. Learning depends on the subjects as well, applying an abstact mathematical formula to things that get subjective is a non-starter. Particularly when students are viewed as customers, rather than pupils.

Walker has frozen tuition until 2017, when he assumes he will be in the White House. At that point, UW's tuition take a significant jump. Walker's already getting pushback from his own party on his proposed budget.
One more thing to remember about Walker. The last US president without a college degree was Truman.
