Nothing but respect here for the memory of the man.
RIP, coach.

Dean's trademark four corners stall tactic was an abomination to the game of basketball. It ultimately lead to the adoption of the shot clock, which made the game much more fast paced and exciting to watch. So for that I thank Dean Smith.

Rack Mgo. He only won one title in the shot clock era and one prior to that. One of the most overrated coaches of all time.
Fuck Dean Smith.

We know you hate it. I really don't know why you'd post in this thread. Even Milton had a far better post in here than did you. Take that into consideration.
What chapped your twat lips over the weekend? Cold spell run through Bacon, Ga?

Yeah, that's so hard to do when you're taking a bunch of paper classes.
And while there were academic pproblems at UNC, they did not include Coach Smith. He was not involved with it and had no knowledge of before it became public.
Stop slurping ESPN cock and crack a book sometime.
North Carolina was running an institution of academic fraud, spanning multiple coaching regimes and sports going back to the early 90s. That he didn't know about it is a crock of shit, and if he didn't, that's almost as bad.

Rarely do investigations "prove" that a coach had knowledge of cheating. Too hard to prove without a paper trail, but that doesn't mean he didn't know. Regardless, academic fraud still happened under his watch.
I'm not saying he was a terrible human, but let's stop putting sports figures on a pedestal. He was just a basketball coach who cut corners to win. He didn't cure cancer.

I remember the last time I got called into jury duty, I was so pissed off at work I went out of my way to get selected.
It was awesome. Slept in, get out around 3 to enjoy the early May weather. Sat in with a mall Santa,TROTS'd a bunch of bradhusker threads and put a welfare cheat behind bars.

Giving the man due respect for his enormously positive impact on others, both on and off the court, isn't necessarily putting him "on a pedestal".
But if that's the way you see it, fine. He deserves to be there.
Michael Jordan wrote:"Other than my parents, no one had a bigger influence on my life than coach Smith. He was more than my coach - he was my mentor, my teacher, my second father.
Coach was always there for me whenever I needed him, and I loved him for it."
So who should I believe, a jaded cynic and his semen soaked sidekick, or perhaps the greatest athlete (next to Bo Jackson) of all time?

I know he was. Still - he was a great fucking coach, and had a high graduation rate. Sometimes politics don't mean everything...
You're a flaming liberal, but you're still a pretty cool fucker. :)
Well, I have a high graduation rate.
