I've always said I think Lennon/McCartney was the greatest song writing team ever, except that it's easy to distinguish when one was solely responsible for a song.....they agreed early on they'd share song writing credits and a lot of their stuff is co-written....but like I said it's pretty easy to distinguish which one had the predominate influence, even on collaborations.....that quality music could make me sound like a good drummer and I've played them all of three times.....

Yup, he was the "drummer of record" on almost every track. But it wasn't actually Ringo. Paul would rerecord drum tracks after hours.

Which is why Ringo quit during the White Album sessions. He got over it, and (wisely) came back a few days later.

Dins, every article I've seen mentioned something close to what you suggest, but I would be interested to see where your information came from. It isn't a big secret that Paul would sometimes "clean up" after Ringo, but most every resource I've seen gives Ringo full credit for the drumming on the bulk of Sgt. Pepper.

I have yet to see one article or book on the Beatles that said Paul did a full substitute for Ringo on "Day in the Life". Would you link that up please.

You're talking about an article from an interview from 30 years ago, with no link to support it. I've done my research, however I'm thinking you might be a little lax on your history here. If you can back it up with a link, fine. But I have plenty of resources here that say otherwise.
