United Airlines Confirms Flights Grounded Worldwide

United Airlines grounded all flights worldwide Wednesday morning after its computer
system suffered a technical glitch, causing a ripple effect of heavy delays throughout
major airports.

About 3,500 flights were being affected. The delays could reach 235 domestic and 138
international destinations.

"We experienced a network connectivity issue this morning," United confirmed in a
statement after 9 a.m. "We are working to resolve this and apologize to our customers
for any inconvenience."

The Federal Aviation Administration specifically blamed the ground stop on "automation
issues..."

While you could be correct, it could be that their IT is so bad that it couldn't handle a simple schedule or fare update.

Most airlines push system updates out overnight on Monday or Tuesdays so if something does go wrong it is midweek not weekend travel that is effected.

Lefty, what does this mean for my mom flying in from Boston this evening. Are we talking hours in delay time?

Your link is already updated, Chicken Little:
United Airlines flights are no longer grounded Wednesday morning after its computer system suffered a technical glitch, causing a ripple effect of heavy delays throughout major airports.

About 3,500 flights were being affected. The delays could reach 235 domestic and 138 international destinations.

"We experienced a network connectivity issue this morning," United confirmed in a statement after 9 a.m. "We are working to resolve this and apologize to our customers for any inconvenience."

The Federal Aviation Administration specifically blamed the ground stop on "automation issues."

The ground stop, however, was lifted around 9:20 a.m. for United's regional carriers, which can perform their own weight and balance checks.

Passengers at airports from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Washington, D.C., to Florida complained of system backups and long lines.

NBC Connecticut said United passengers without a hard copy of their boarding pass were not being allowed to check in at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, north of Hartford.

This is just a tiny sampling of what Dan J and Ocelot X are capable of. Gone are the days of The Alliance buttfucking message boards into oblivion. We have much bigger fish to fry.

But don't ease your sphincters for one fucking second. ANY time, day or night, we are capable of cornholing this shithole back to the stone ages.
