It is the Democratic party for starters. Secondly, if the old Southern Democratic party stance on race is to be held against current Democrats, why are current Republicans who mimic those stances not in your cross hairs?

In all fairness, I had never heard of Rick Perlstein. After 15 minutes of research, he appears to be somewhat partisan for a "historian". Apparently he's made a decent living attacking Nixon, Goldwater and Reagan. Not that they aren't all deserving targets.

Wolfman tends to be somewhat kneejerk in his responses, but if he was already familiar with Mr. Perlstein's work, his reaction is somewhat understandable.
